I'm comin' back...

Ya know...after not playing DDO for nearly a year and a half, trying several other MMOs, and taking a break from MMOs altogether, I've decided to return to DDO.

IMO, this is the ONLY MMO that stands apart from the others...it was really created in its own mold.

Say what you will about DDO, IMO it is one of the best games out...and probably the most unique MMO around (if not the best altogether).

PLAYING: NOTHING!!!
PLAYED:FFXI, LotRO, AoC, WAR, DDO, Megaten, Wurm, Rohan, Mabinogi, RoM

WAITING FOR: Dust 514

I second that. Completely different from any MMO I'd played previously and still more fun than most I've played since.

I am a little biased because I did used to play D&D a little way back in the day, and IMO I don't think I've found an RPG to rival the Baldurs Gate series. Maybe the first 2 Fallout games come a very close 2nd. Either way both series blew my socks off and still set the template for my expectations with games.

If your idea of a game is "Go here and kill 10 rats" followed by "Good work, one more thing. I need you to go to these co-ordinates and collect me 20 rat tails..." then this might not be for you. DDO lets me feel like an adventurer for hire where most MMO's leave me feeling like a glorified errand boy.

Never once felt that I had to spend any £'s in order to enjoy the game or progress further. If I had enough free time to justify it I would definitely have gone VIP already.

The one bad thing I can say about DDO is that early on there was a quest to disrupt a gambling den... being a chaotic character I was a little upset to find no option for talking the owner into cutting me a slice of the profits like I would have in BG hahaha.

Sadly DDO makes ZERO use of alignment of your character in game other then the ability to equip certain items.. It has no effect on what you can do or who you can do it with.

Yes I to played D&D way back in the 80s until I saw that Tom Hanks afterschool special movie "Mazes and Monsters." It scared me straight. Nobody wants to end up like poor "Pardue the Holyman".
