I was just going to upgrade the ram to 4 gigs and add a geforce 460 graphics(currently have a 9800gt) card to the above, but what do you think. I read that my processor my bottleneck the graphics card if I don't upgrade it.
And this is what I currently have: |

Pardon me for not researching your computer Nazgul, but is it even a 64-bit system? If it isn't capable of running the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, then it would be a serious waste of money to go that route unless you planned a MAJOR revamp of you computer.

It sounds and looks to me like this is going to be (another) MMORPG designed to run well on a six year old Walmart special. But if what you've really got is the itch to blow some coin and use SWTOR as an excuse, go for it.
To me it sounds like he wants to be able to play SWTOR at the highest setting possible, which is understandable in my opinion. Not many of us pick up a game and say "Hmmm, I wonder how good this game will look on it's lowest graphics settings, maybe I'll buy it to find out."

^ A 9800gt is a two and a half year old, $425 DX10 card. Maybe it won't crank up to absolute max settings in SWTOR, but I would guess it would come close enough to not really matter much.
But yes, there are lots of people out there who feel they need to get 100fps at max settings even though the human eye and brain can't detect much beyond 28fps, etc.. However to me that seems more like just enjoying a hot toy (I do too!), rather than having anything to do with creating a good gaming experience.
But note, we weren't talking a game like Crysis here. I agree that might be another story...
Personally I can see your point and agree. If I was going to upgrade it would be the RAM over his graphics card. Four Gigs of RAM sounds like a lot, but I find on my computer that having at least 4x the recommended seems to really work out better and if I can go higher, even better.
With that being said, and since a lot of MMO's seem to recommend at least 2 gigs of RAM, then I would suggest at least 8 gigs of RAM if your computer will run it.

I dont think these days 4Gb is considered a lot, its a minimum requirement! Im going to be building a computer in a months time to coincide with a lot of the new releases. This was what I had in mind;
Core i7 930
6GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600mhz
Gigabyte GA-X58-USB3
Akasa Nero S Premier Cooler - £473.99
CoolerMaster Silent Pro Gold 800w (160 x 85 x 150mm) - £130
Thermaltake Armor A90 Case - £75
Asus Xonar DS 7.1 Sound Card - £35
MSI GTX 460 1GB Hawk Graphics Card - £160
Samsung HD105SI EcoGreen F3 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 32MB Cache – OEM – £45.00
LG CH08LS10 8x blueray - £52.00
Total - £971
Thats for the whole computer, turn it into dollars if youre a yank! Could easily be downgraded with the motherboard and processor to make it a lot cheaper, but its still considered a "budget" gaming pc in terms of whats actually in it. Most important parts are graphics card and memory. Then motherboard and processor.
If I had only enough money to do certain parts to an existing desktop, Id get 6gb of RAM and a new GPU. Most bang for you buck would be something like the XFX HD 5770 which deal with DirectX11 gaming, its only £116. With that sort of price you can then save up for a second one in your own time and have a dual card crossfire set up that will make a difference!
Thanks for the help guys. I am gonna go the route to actually upgrade the motherboard, processor and ram, instead of the graphics card. From my understanding the Hero Engine is a DirectX 9 game so I don't think i really need to upgrade the video card since it should be pretty decent to run the game and since MMOs are usually more CPU resource heavy than graphics heavy, I think it will be the wiser choice at this time.

Hey Naz, how much money are you expecting to spend, too? Because I'm currently building a computer myself and all the necessary parts (besides power supply) came to about 600$. Video card is going to require an upgrade, but yeah.
Looking to spend about $400.

Well, the three items I have , motherboard, processor and RAM together comes to 374. And I'd like to say they're pretty god damn good in my opinion. Been trying to build this computer for quite a while. Go go money. Lol.
It's AMD though, so let me know if you still wanna look.
Your old CPU is fine for TOR. The main problem here is ram. 4 Gigs is really good to have. A new GFX card is helpful as well, but as I wrote in your other thread, the 560 is a lot better deal than the 460.
with a 460GTX you will be able to play crysis at 30-45 FPS at Vhigh details and since SWTOR looks like a beaten donkey, any setup will do as long as you spent 300€ + ..however, I wouldn't buy AMD. i5 760 = best power/value ratio ...
