Dragon Realms

Have anyone of you people played Dragon realms? (www.dragonealms.net or play.net/dr)? It's from the makers of the upcoming MMORPG Hero's Journey. It's a MUD and it's $14.95 a month to be played. The game is in text, all text, some images, but the majority is text. When my friend showed me this game i said "Why would anyone EVER want to play a boring text game??". Little did I know that once I tried it, it would be an AMAZING, and I mean AMAZING game! It's a game that proves you don't need graphics to be great. You can do anything you want, or near to anything you can think of (don't get any wrong ideas, because there is none of that! ).

That's all i want ot tell right now. I highly recomend you try it. you get a 30 day free trial.

For all those who think Runescape sucks, you obviously haven't given it a chance.

DR's decent. complicated combat system and if you're melee then the combat will be locked since you have to advance to your foe in order to reach it (unless you have a polearm perhaps). I like GS's combat better except it's so much more dangerous to hunt now that they updated the monsters in GS4.  In GS3, I used to just go into a crowd of monsters and hack away (it's a lot more simple than DR's but more fun imo). Anyway, I gave DR a chance and it's a decent game. It's the heaviest on RP of all Simu's games I think. I didn't like their combat system that much; no HP either and can't see the set damage done to enemies. I like seeing numbers fly. But, yes, I'd say give it a chance. It's no better or worse than most of the graphical games out there right now.

One of the things I like about Simu's MUDs is that they let you choose your appearance from an extensive list of options; I like a little game mechanics. In all other MUDs you write in your description so it just comes off to me as cheesy (ex: if I wanted to type, I'd join a chat room. If I want to play, I'll play a game with game mechanics in it). All other MUDs besides Simu's just seem so hollow and lacking in any set of game rules - even Materia Magica. Good call though, Rsis. Decent game. Check it out.

For all those who think Runescape sucks, you obviously haven't given it a chance.

I've played RS a few times and I still think it's not that great. Granted, I haven't payed for any special features and I didn't get far each time. I think I got to the point of killing scorpions/ghosts or something and had bronze armor. But... I'd much rather waste my time somewhere else.

By the way, anyone interested in DR may check these appearance options out from GS4. I don't believe they're completely the same as the options in the Realms since it's been so long, but I know at least that DR has about as many of the same races as Gemstone.
