Everquest Time Locked Progression Feb-15th

Agnostic42Agnostic42 Member UncommonPosts: 405

The guys and gals at SOE have announced the launch date of the new server. Febuary 15th. For all you old EQ players, see you there.  For people who haven't tried it before, this is a great opportunity to see the game that is the (For me) king of MMO's.

UI isn't, you would use the same UI as we use now in EQ.  As for graphics, you'll get to use Luclin models just the same, you aren't restricted to classic models.  As for racial towns, I think most EQ players want  the classic racial towns to stay the same for nostalgia purposes.  So yes zone graphics will gradually update as expansions open up since newer zones look much much better than the old zones.  Although I'm sure the revamped Sro, Commonlands, Freeport, etc.. will stay in the game with the prog server.  So you get to see the updated zone graphics kinda mixed in with the old heh.

Get newbies in, convince your dog, your cousin and your imaginary friend to come - We need you, so it wont be a nostalgia trip only for returnees :)

    See you in Norrath!

Is there a big turnout for these type of events? Though I am an EQ classic fan I've been pretty disconnected with EQ1 for a long time. Seems like it would be quite fun, but would definitely need a good population.

The last progression server they did, it was so popular and so full, they had to open up a second server right away.  So yes, you can expect over 100 people in kelethin alone guaranteed.

Nope. I played Copeland the Wizard on The Tribunal server.

There are a lot of us old schoolers coming back for this. I am definitely looking forward to it. So excited.

I hope everyone that has any interest at least ggives it a try. The graphics are old yes, the music is cheesy, but thats how we rolled back in the day! A good game is not always based on it's graphics! (APB anyone?)

I resubbed already and played around  on AB server, and geeze, the graphics are indeed old, but it has that feeling... you know, of a good game that makes you want to take another step, to turn the dark corner... to go on.

Got that graphical mix right now. I have a level 8 character wandering around Freeport on Xegony, and half or more of the NPCs in town are the old flat-faced rigid models. Also discovering the wonders of quests that don't put anything in a quest journal, which I assume was the original style. You have to remember (or write down) who wanted what, and where they were.

I'll be there also. Downloaded & installed EQ yesterday as well as renewing my old account.

    See you guys in game!

basically. I remember my EQ memories fondly, but I can't stomach it's dated graphics, UI or combat engine any more. I can only hope for a new EQ.

Those of you saying UI is outdated, are you thinking the TLP server is going to play with this classic UI?   That's someone else's pic but I have a feeling some people actually think they'll be playing like that.  If so, lol.  And no, that's not the UI we'll be using.

Here's one example of a newer UI mod, Vert UI.
