MMORPG.COM News: Ishtan Interview @ GamerGod

AdminAdmin Administrator RarePosts: 5,623

Our friends over at GamerGod.com have just posted a nice interview with the people behind a MMORPG in early development called Ishtan.   A sneak peek is below:

GamerGod: Can you tell us a bit about the team behind Ishtan? How many you have working diligently on the game and what type of experience they bring to the table?

Harvey: The team working on Ishtan has been a little dynamic over the last 18 months, from as low as 4 full time people to as high as 15 at it's peak. At present there are 6 full time members, 1 Project leader, 4 people coding and 1 working on models and soundtracks, although part of the modelling is undertaken by some of the coders when they require a bit of a break from hard coding. The majority of the workers have backgrounds in business programming so writing a game such as Ishtan is a new challenge for many although two of the team myself included have written games before for the local market within Australia which were released by Sega. Overall though the commercial experience ranges from about 20 years for the most experienced to around 5 years for the less experienced developers.

The initial description sounded pretty standard, but by the end of the interview there were a few ideas that I thought were interesting, although subject to griefing.  Kidnapping and ransom, home burglary and robbery, bank robbery, sounds like quite the game for the hard-core thieves and bullies, and those who hunt them.

This one could be fun, but I wonder if there will be a market for it.

Looks like a new game to keep an eye on. It will be interesting to see, as Vicky mentioned, how they will balance the neat ideas they have.

Might turn out ok and might not...
The pictures are they supposed to be the ingame gfx later on?

Not to sound rude or anything but I din´t like the way the characters looked.
The enviorment seemed nice in the way you see miles away, but I rather have more intense close by.

Din´t have the time to read through the interview right nog so I´ll read it tonight.
I´m one of those that only looks at the picutres in comic books ;) *smiles*
