Planning to get the game in a week or so...US PC PvP server?

I don't know what servers there are, or how many, or if PS3 has separate servers...but when I get paid this month for my disability, I'm going to buy DC off Direct2Drive or amazon (I get 10 dollars off D2D)...was wondering what a good PvP server would be? I heard Death and Glory was most popular one, but heard community wasn't that great on that server?...and I want to be a villain, and heard DaG was filled with villains. Not sure if those two things are true or not...but I would rather play a server where Heroes outnumber Villains...not sure if there are any servers like that. I want to feel outnumbered and have to really work/fight to succeed...or if there are just generally more Villains in this game, guess I'll go as a Hero.

Thanks :)

IMHO (waits for all the hardcore players to flame and say Im a carebear) I think the PVP servers here are horrible. The CONCEPT is amazing but the level 30's that camp the level 4 zones over and over just completely turns of me off. I have zero interest to rez - run back to my area to quest - kill maybe 3 mobs - get ganked - rinse, repeat.

I love PVP servers mostly and Im a huge fan of DCUO - but I just don't have that type of patience.  I don't even mind getting ganked (I know what I sign up for when I click the PVP server button) but to be camped over and over and over by some jackass who can 3 shot me really isn't that enjoyable.  If I were to be left alone after to finish my quests - then fine - but I think others just like to grief and being in my 30s I just dont have that much time or patience for that in gaming anymore. I just re-read your post and it seems you WANT to struggle - so the PVP server will be most definitely for you :)

Now that's out of the way and my rant is over - to answer your question - The Killing Joke is probably the "most full" PVP server but Im on the PS3 version so I believe it's different - if you're into PVP and lots of fighting, that's probably where you want to me. It also seems like a pretty solid server overall and where I'd make my home if I were to reroll on a PVP realm.

I'll quietly stay on my carebear server, at least until I learn the game and the mechanics. Give me a chance to enjoy the 30 days before my sub fee time comes up.

    Good luck

I can give you somewhat of a status report on Death and Glory. The numbers seem to have evened out some--still more villains than heroes, probably, but not nearly as bad as right after launch. Not sure about villain side as a whole, but hero side on D&G has been strangely refreshing, community-wise. Maybe humanity isn't that bad after all...

...but then I play my villain alt on PE and come to my senses.

Heh, take that with a grain of salt. I haven't really been on PE enough to make a full judgement about its community or population distribution.

    Playing: FFXIV, EVE

Unless you have played a trial or beta already and decided you like it, I would advise holding off for 2 weeks after you get paid (3 weeks from now).  Get access to a trial key and see if you like it.  Even after doing, give it the two weeks because all of the first week buyers' free 30 day window will be coming to an end and subscriptions will be kicking in.

I play on Public Enemies serve - PvP. No, servers arent shared with PS3 sadly. there are 6 servers. 3 PvP and 3 PvE (pretty sure, if not maybe 1 or two more PvE). If you want to play a villan and be out numbered you are out of luck, my understanding is Villans out number heroes on all 3 PvP servs. I know on my serv for everyon 1 hero ther eis like 5 villans.

PvP is rough, It's not some carebear crap like WoW. You will get ganked, over and over. Either move to another area, or get into a League that will help. But don't let this discourage you. It has been very very fun. And it's very fun to get into a group and just run around town taking out villans.

I don't mind being ganked over and over. I find it hilarious, fun and exciting, and yeah at times frustrating...all four at once...happened a lot in Age of Conan Tortage isle before they nerfed it.

I guess Heroes it is...I don't mind a Hero, both are good. I can always have an alt as a villain anyway.

That's a good analogy using AoC as a comparison. Its pretty much exactly like that IMO although in DCUO you have a much better chance at escape which definitely bodes much better than AoC where you were pretty much dead on sight :)  I prefer acrobatics due to this but that's a whole other topic of debate.

Still has the same feel - oh how I loath the underground on a AoC PVP server.

Don't...just don't get this game right now.  It is completely borked with bugs and exploits.  Your best bet is to wait for a month first.  You'll lose nothing as getting to max level/armor is fast and simple.

I have NEVER seen a game release with more bugs and exploits...and I played Star Trek Online Beta!!!

Ehh and what betas u played? I dont know about STO (it was so bad game that I didnt played beta for long), but for other games almost every recent beta release was worse than DCUO.

Thats strange because I've encountered only a couple of minor bugs so far. The real problem is PvP exploit so I'll let my sub run out unitl it gets fixed.

But IMO the game is well worth $45 because 1 month is more than enough to do all PvE content which is extremely entertaining (there is absolutley no grind in this game). Story and voice acting is amazing, animations too. It took me about a week of casual play to hit lvl 30 so I still have time to roll another 2-3 chars and try out other powers.

    Not worth the sub though.

Regarding bugs, clearly you haven't been in very many betas.  There were some questionable design issues which are being addressed, but not that many bugs.  On the other hand, "leveling speed", or rather the amount of content shipped will go by fast.
