Most liklely, but don't hold your breath just yet. The CBT is set to release sometime around the end of April for Korea and then the OBT for the around August-October. So ~IF~ it does come to NA (which I wouldn't see why not since it already has accumulated such an intese fanbase) it will probably be in 2012 sometime, more likely a few months into the year. It would be nice if there was word on it as far as an plans for NA release, but none of yet.

If this makes you feel any better though there is this link: http://bladeandsoul.com/global/en

I would like to think that there is an English setup site like this that there are plans to bring it to NA :P

Hope this answered any questions or eased a thought or 2. I really hope it comes here as well.

Ugh not till 2012? That sucks, we might only get a few weeks to play before the world ends.

The english B&S webpage is probably the worst AAA company MMORPG website I've ever seen.

Well, pretty close.  Seriously.  It's just a video... when it even bothers to load (Right now it's not even working for me)

It's why I go to Blade & Soul Dojo to read translations of the vastly superior Korean B&S webpage. :D

It's worth noting that they changed the website this year, last year they had the g-star 2009 video ^^, progress I say!

Except I liked the older video more, and they didn't put TWO videos on the page... oh no.  Too much coding.  They just swapped one out for the other.  Ugh!   :(

Thinking back at Aion beta's and release date.

I realy hope they are going to make B&S more western then they did with Aion.

Ayase did a good job, but had little impact on the gameplay here in EU and USA, Ayase now working for Trion Rift mmo.

He was a good community manager and gave alot of info and feedback to NCsoft, but it seems most of it fell on deaf ears....

With Ayase gone and lessons learned a hard way from Aion's grind i dont have much hope that this mmo will be better :(

We can always hope, and some of you like to grind till your eyes bleed, but for a succesfull mmo in the west you cant keep a hardcore grinding game on the top.

Have to wait and see :)

  • Korean CBT and OBT wil be released within this year but for a western release you have sure to wait the 2012.

This is my current understanding. Someone can correct me, if I'm wrong:

NCSoft has two main titles in development for possible release with in the next 12 months. Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul. They plan to eventually regionalize each game for world wide distribution, but they are splitting launches for each game. Guild Wars 2 will initially launch in the West, with follow up into Asia with in a year. Blade & Soul will initially launch in the East, with eventual launch in the West, also with in a year of the initial release.

Not a bad strategy for the company. Each game is specifically tailored for either East or West, but they also appreciate that there will be some audience for each game outside it's primary region.

How much the games might be regionalized, beyond the language translation, remains to be seen. They may make some alterations in the games to better adjust to players in the opposite region, or they may stick mostly to translation and adjustment of quests for cultural resonance.

Feh. 'westernization' just rips the guts out of a game and replaces it with a bunch of fetch quests.

look at aion, nobody likes it. too 'grindy' for casuals, and i like grinding and i hated aion, would have much preferred them just translate things and leave it the way it was.

Try to please everyone and you end up making everyone angry. Game is designed a certain way for certain people, market it as that, dont try to twist it to meet a larger fanbase in one region, because you will end up with no fans at all in that region because you tried to sell them some mutated middle ground.

@ Sidraket.  I can't disagree more. Aion had terrible Westernization, but that doesn't mean that Westernization is bad in general.
