About me: played a lot of mmos (browser and .exe), never watched BG series, and writing this as someone who was looking for a new space mmo. played this game for ~80h.
Graphics: 10/10? pretty well implemented 3d with the unity player, impressive for a browser game.
Music: 7/10? music is alright, nothing annoying, nothing exceptional.
Lag: 6/10 fine for first 30 mins, then seems to get laggy a bit (which is quite a problem when flying a small ships due to manoeuvrability being very important. tolerable though. They often say to clear cache and stuff as a solution (meh >.>).
Gameplay: 8/10 it's more than decent, you can play everyday maybe 1-2h just to complete your quests or play more and involve yourself into pvp if you wish, hunt for planetoids (order mining ship(s) and defend it), or simply pve more, solo or grouping (10 players per group max).
Balance of paying players: 0/10? main issue imo, there is 4 ranks of missile power people can use, normal 100% damage, another is 110%, 120% and the fourth one does 500% damage with high critical chance for 1000% damage (you buy those for 1$ per approximately). So basically an auto-win button to those who spend real money.
Customization 3/10 sure there is a few modules but it comes down to doing some maths with power consuption vs damage dealt, there is usually only 1 viable way to play your ship to pvp better, you have close to no choice to change playstyle while in space (for example you can't change your missiles for some which will travel faster or something in space to do better for certain situations) and it's really far to travel back to a station to change your ship modules.
Other notes: Suiciding to travel to a station faster is a good option. Very little strategy involved (fight results more in number and whoever has the less trouble with the camera to shoot the other guy). Big ships can kill you in your small ship in under 5 seconds with their cannons. Wings (guilds) will often try to harass and force you to get teamspeak or similar to join/stay in their wing. You get banned from chat for 24h very easily without warning for using words that are actually alright.
PVE overall 8/10 : quest diversity, can solo or group up to your liking (both are about as advantageous), lots of freedom
PVP overall 5/10 : spawn camping, ship size means everything in 1v1, paying gives you too much power, dying has little consequences, radar informs you of approaching enemies when it's already too late
I'm not looking for people to try and correct what they think is wrong in my review, it's beta I know and it's my own opinion on the current implementation. You're more than welcome to post your own review on this thread, even a simple one can be insightful for other potential players. Thanks for reading everything before posting ^_^ Also:
Open Beta is the 8th of this month and a brand new server will be up so if you want to try the game fresh, it's your chance.

Thought I read in another thread that this game was still under NDA.

Nothing about NDA on all pages of their website, none in the term or services, no result shown after a search of all the content of their forums, nothing either in the acceptance of beta application and finally, no box checking about any agreement containing a close of NDA.
If you find a link on the matter (and still up to date), please post and I'll edit accordingly.
It may be in the launcher client itself, as it is with other beta games or like the EULA is for live games.
Closed beta almost always indicates the presence of an NDA.

Typical that a good post with decent information only gets responses talking about NDA...
The fact of the matter, like with many free 2 play games, they make their money in the item mall. This game is heavily biased towards those paying for extras and lets be honest, this game isnt worth putting money into it. Therefore, people wont play it for long, people who dont pay wont enjoy it, the game will fail in a short space of time. NDA or no NDA.
Hearing "Quests" and BSG in the same sentance kinda makes me feel sick.
TSW - AoC - Aion - WOW - EVE - Fallen Earth - Co - Rift - || XNA C# Java Development
It's just an out of the box word to make people who have not played the game understand the concept without thinking too much about which words could mean what. "quest" can be more easily attributable to the click-npc-to-get-something-to-do than assignment. Sorry to hear you are feeling sick.
I loved the BSG show... and I tried this game for 45 mins. I had to turn it off because the space combat gave me a terrible headache. Not sure what that was all about
LotRO: Meneldor: Riders of the Riddermark
if you're looking for a game that will mirror the tv show of course you will feel sick..that would only occurr in aaaa mmo or single player game. this is maily a shooter..it's fun and casual...heady bsg stuff doesn't appeal to a large group of people
so say we all
is the combat twitch?
I can't imagine playing any battlestar game and not having the ability to stop on a dime and do a 180 and shot the shit out of someone lol.
Woot! Frak them up!
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
