My thoughts about rift - PvP perspective
I've spent 2 years in WAR (rr81 shaman, quit after the 1.4 patch) and quite some time in the WoW arena/battlegrounds and with that in mind, I actually like the PvP in rift.
First of all, we have 4 classes with incredible possibilities in customization, in WAR there was perhaps 2-3 possible specs for my shaman, nearly every class in game had the same spec in fact. However, I loved to cooperation required in WAR, you weren't alone and had to coop with 23 other players in order to succeed. My feelings about WoW aren't the same in the other hand, you're like a super solo warrior in that game, always forced into solo situations in BGs or 2 hit wonder combos in the Arena in order to succeed (I played enh shaman so i hadn't really fotm combos).
Rift seems to be a really cooperative game PvPwize, that's perhaps why a few ppl are complaining about it. I'm having really fun when playing with my friends from my WAR guild which is rerolling to Rift now. I suspect that the end game PvP will be really hard to master with alot to learn. You're never limited to your choice of class in a traditional way because of the versatility in specs (and you can have astonishing 4 of them!). The game itself is incredibly polished and I don't think we'll ever have to deal with bugs in the same way as in for instance WAR. My best tip to you is that whenever you try it, form a party with a few friends and queue up!

Its cleric and druid soul's last talent is that satyr pet.

Depends on the soul really. From the melee souls druid is harder to die than shaman, but deals a tad less damage. Druid has also a bit more options in terms of crowd control. Healing is another ball game. Depending on souls, some are more resilient than others. I haven't got much experience with casters.
The major bonus of that satyr pet is not its damage, it's the 15% melee damage increase buff to all raid it brings.
For solo or solo PvP I prefer the major faerie. An extra hot makes you even more resilient than you already are.
Also if you want almost limitless mana, you need the [Endless Winter] talent from the Shaman tree. At level 35, which was the max for beta, it was a compromise between having the satyr and getting starved for mana (even with the two mana returning abilities from both Shaman and Druid trees) or having the healing pet, unlimited mana but not satyr buff.

Reminds me of the old wow fun days when there still was world pvp in that game before flying mounts and before everything went queue-stuff... Thumbs up for that.
Actually I was not expecting much from this game but that video was great. This is a breath of fresh air from the other ad nauseum threads on rift that spew the same point of view day in and out. Thank you sir !
