So I am seeing the name of this game thrown around on these boards and was hoping to get a quick what's up on this game.

I am a former SWG, UO, and Wurm player. I don't have a TON of time to play anymore and am trying to not spend too much cash so I was wondering if someone could tell me the time requirements and fees. Is this a game I should get on board and support, is it worth my time and money? Is it released or in beta?

I know some of you might be saying, do your own research. Which I understand. However, I am sure there are some people who wouldn't mind telling me about the game and I thank you.

Oh no I think I may have to buy it... should... save money... for grad school... but maybe should get my MMO fix before I get into college again so I don't ruin my life...

One question left though. Should I pre-order for the early access (is this a trail for pre-orders or is this the real game world?).

I don't know anything about this game, and I'm not going to critize it, but I do know a common thought among many gamers is to wait until the game has launched and read som review. Don't want to preorder and suddenly hate the game,.

Don't know what to put here, honestly.

    That's is my general plan. I don't pre-order MMO's anymore.

Its the real game world. pre orders gets a 2 week headstart. if you preorder you will also get 2 months free play time i think.

if you go the main website of the game theres an IRC chat, people there always willing to answer your question, theres also a GM sometimes on there to answer questions, basically sandbox game, that has most features in it already, but still others not yet until launch time. Right now is more of a crafting game. Combat going to be like mount and blade maybe i heard. You spend quiet a bit of time gathering what you need and make a village of your own anywhere you want in the world. You change the world on how you want it. You change the terrain on how you want to build it. Youtube some videos it shows how the others build their own fortress which is quiet amazing.

Apparently the dev dont tell you whats going to be in the game you have to discover it yourself and learn about it.

Dont expect AAA title polish game, you have to expect kinda of like yes will have bugs and have to be patient to get it fix but generally they fix things pretty fast and they communicate with the players in the forum. The community is great, i dont hear none of that BS on general chat like Rift or WOW at all. Everyone is willing to help out.

Theres tons of other things i have no mention because seriously goes on forever. Im not a crafter myself and i never have crafted anything in other mmos, but im actually willing and having fun doing it haha. well its 40 bucks and you 2 months free, so basically 20 bucks each month ?? which is okay.

well hope this helps a bit

Sounds a bit like a more polished Wurm Online.

So, I am not sure if anyone has mentioned. Is it in the pre launch live status, or are we still in Beta?

Also are there ships, sea trade, things along that line. I am still waiting for a game to have some thought into sea based things.

It's beta till Feb 14th On FEb 14th The server will ahve it's final Wipe. And it will be live for pre order's On March 1st it will go live for those who didn't pre order.. So if you pre order and jump in now don't exspect to see every thing in cause it's beta till feb 14th. most features will not go in till march first on main launch so even on the 14th you want see all the features.

Alot of things are being worked on for main launch. Kinda good in a way that way pre orders don't have to much of a jump on those that didn't pre order. hope this answers your questions.

Edit: In time there will be rafts and stuff for launching war parties. Things have to go slow cause we are in phase 1 the prelude.

You are basically coming out of your hole you crawled in to, to hide during the Apocolypse. Now that the big event is over you come out to see nothing of the world you once knew. With no grocery store or home survival kicks in and you resort back to hunting food and clothing shelter. If this really happened do you think you would pick up a pipe and run around killing people?

Survival instincts will kick in first things first shelter food fire clothing weapon to defend my belonging's. Once prelude is done other things will come in to game play. But for know it's time to rebuild and establish a working order.

You was givin a insight on waht will be coming but all will not be in pre lude cause it';s the rebuild time. As months roll by as we rebuilt a working order this will be done by the players. New things will arise in the months to come down the road . So waist no time in having your chance to get things in order before other things emerge from the deadly mist and the rest of the forgotten world.

i rad somewhere in the forum about ships and that it really depends on the players in game i suppose, the dev goes according to us in a way to evolve the world. But were in lake tahoo so not sure if big ships will fit in the equation??

the last server restart as in wipe will be on the 14th of this month so if your preorder you can play now until then and be in head start on the 14th. Live is the actual game server not beta or anything even though you might feel like it is a beta stage? well it feels refreshing to be a in world driving by players. the game practically throws in a world with nothing, theres no NPC either. You just gota find ways to survive. illt try answers all the questions you have if  i can lol

Do you see villages having deficiencies in items that drives up prices for it? IE is there any traders going around buying a product/resource in an area where its plentiful and transporting it to areas where it is needed?

How polished is it. Is it real rough or totally playable? I am not too perticular on this but I can't stand when game features dont work right. I understand its still beta but this close to launch i like to hear that there is a solid base gameplay that is working before I will give them my money.

BTW I am leaning towards buying the preorder just to promote this style of game because I just love it so much. Minecraft, Wurm Online, ect.

We players are the ones that have to build the econemy and establish trade. like i said it's the rebuild. There is no npc's with buy my crap. It will be up to us players to create tribes and working trade centers  and selling our resources that we have gathered and selling our products we make and stuff.

If I were you I would look up the tutorial videos on You Tube.  After watching these for about 5-10 minutes I purchased the game and I have been following it since March 2010.

I wasn't sure how the game would progress. . but it looks good.  In that year I have thrown money away on much worse games.

Seriously look down on these forums and watch the salvaging videos etc.

What I missed most since UO and SWG was a "virtual world".  I think this game has that.  I just downloaded it last night and will hop on tonight.  You do get the 2 months free as well as the headstart for $40 though.  That works out to about a $22 value (I don't count the 30 days that most games include) leaving you paying about $17 for the game if you want to look at it that way.

I am not going to hype the game but when I think of all the games I have tried recently I just can't level and run quests from NPCs anymore - so it is one of my last hopes (fingers sitll crossed for some MO magic).

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

Yes, but do you see what I am talking about naturally happening in the game. Is it still too early to tell? Perhaps we will need to wait for more features to come out to really see things get more interesting? I guess my main question, are there areas more rich in a resource than others. A simple example, up in the mountains there is ore but little food and wood, in the Valley there is a lot of wood, along the river there is a lot of food. This establishing a need for transportation of the excess resources to areas that need that resource.

    Is there farming?

I have been, but they don't tell me enough. I am definitely very interested though. Looks much like a better Wurm, and if you have played Wurm it lends to very good times creating your little nook in the world.

Hey you maybe want to check the videos from Saintbob

    http://www.youtube.com/user/Saintbob001#p/c/75A4E74B42F4630E/2/euTXykXyfEM

I'm sure there will be a lot of traders (players), at least i will be one of them

Don't except a AAA polish but it's running pretty good for me (not sure how much my new i7 with 8GB RAM is helping here)

i just purchased earthrise too and i can say xsyon is running much better/smoother

i would say it is good playable except the combat system wich will still need some work after launch.

in short: if you are looking for game with a great crafting/scavenging/terraforming system go ahead, if you like to combat a lot you should wait.

hope this helps a bit & have fun

you know what im kinda dissapointed in with is with the safe zone in tribe area, i mean yes i know we should rebuild ect but shouldnt you want to go to that area and fight for it even though you see someone settling there? its kinda of like whoever is first in the game gets the advantage of getting that special spot. You should be able to fight for your terrain?

I see what you are saying.  I would check out the forums on the Xsyon page.  I know they have a lot planned that might not be in yet.  My biggest problem I think will be. . .what happens once everyone is established?  The charm of the game is "rebuilding".  I would almost hope for new servers or resets. . maybe they plan to keep adding new elements or timeline events to keep things going.

I can't answer your questions otherwise as I am not in game .. but I would ask them there instead.  The game has a fairly dedicated community and you the Devs also answer questions.

Some resources will be localized but I think its not in game yet. But thats the plan, yes, to force you to trade with far away tribes.

The gameplay is playable and working well. What needs more polish is combat and graphics IMO. Like where the beach and water meets it doesn't look well at all lol, its too sharp. You can see small rocks here and there that are not totally connected to the ground and some part of them are in the air. Same with trees sometimes if they grow on a slope their base is only partly connected to the ground. Its nothing gamebreaking and I can live with it. Combat is under revision right now. Gathering-crafting-building works well, with tiny bugs ( like there are tools which icons don't appear in your inventory, it does take a slot and you can see its description if you mouse over it but no icon, this happens but rare), nothing gamebreaking again.

The quest system was added a day ago so I haven't really tried it yet but since its new I guess it has some bugs but we will see :)

The devs are working their ass off, they are online at night, during the weekend, I honestly don't know when they sleep lol. The lead dev uploaded a patch and posted on the forum even on New Years Eve omg I felt sorry for that poor guy.

If you think you can live with small bug here and there then don't hesitate to buy it, but if you prefer really polished games wait a bit more.

Edit: there is no farming right now, Agriculture is a planned evolution during Prelude.

I believe games such as these need server resets every once and a while. I mean I am apart of the many who LOVE being apart of a game when it is new. Everything is new and exciting for everyone. Perhaps as they come up with new features and expansions to the game they hold that back for a reset. So its like a whole new game. This would be after they get the base game running smooth and all the bugs worked out.

Don't be disappointed, the game has always been like that, the feature page says Protected Player Owned Housing. This is not a warfare game, there will be something like that after Prelude but I wouldn't expect much, I'm sure it will be based on mutual agreement or something like that, it will be more of an afterthought. Tribes who want to participate in it will get the options but the ones who want to live in peace can do that. But this is nothing new, it was always planned like this, wars will be over resources not tribal towns.

If you are in game now it's still in beta you see that stuff like rocks trees in air you are supose to report that stuff in fourms on xsyon bug fourms thats why you are in beta really this is why them things don't get fixed if you don't do your part they might go un fixed and corrected. Very important to get the lock of it and send that info in every time i run across this i report it and shortly after it is corrected. If every one who came in beat would do these things it would have more polish.

Oh boy, breaking my golden rule of never pre-order a game without some serious incentive. My conciseness is torn but I really want to support this game. So much sandboxy goodness. It is important to show the gaming world that such games are financially viable if you want to see them get financial backing.

Whats going on here?? Is the fact that this is by far one of the best games I have played in a extremely long time! Me and my roommate first logged in and found a place to make our city! Placed the totem down, and immediately started cutting down wood, gathering resources and supplies. We eventually needed food to survive and tools that we didn't quite have yet. We yelled it out in the general to see if anybody was near, and a couple very friendly people came running to our camp and hooked us up with storage bins and pouches! After all that happened we formed two fires and had a general idea of where we wanted to place our first TP! I was out fishing so we could eat and my roommate was cutting trees down. I was at the lake and all the sudden a naked man comes running up to me with 25 nails! We needed 40 to make our TP. He then trades them to me and we start talking, and he joins our tribe! Just like that he is at hard work just like the rest of us and helping build our city up. Myself started terraforming to even out the land and get rid of some of the grassy areas. Eventually another naked man comes running up and is a friend of the first naked man(crazy right)!? He ends up joining and comes to be he is a basketry type person and makes us Grass Gathering Armor! So eventually we all get a set of armor and life is good. Before the end of the night passed, a good friend who bought me Xsyon came to join the Tribe and that leaves us with 5 so far! 8 hours later and didnt even realize it was 4am EST time in the USA. Realizing I had a doctors appointment in 4 hours made me have to go to bed, but it was one of the best mmo experiences I have ever had and will continue to love to watch this game grow more and more and more! I will eventually update my story in even more detail eventually if people really want to hear more about my journey and the start up building of  VINDICA!

Now go out and purchase this amazing product!

p.s. Wanted to state, this game runs better than most AAA titles in its current state, you will not be disappointed! Go out and help support these guys, they are doing amazing!

    In-game: Prayer

    Tribe: Vindica(Professional Website coming soon)!

I was surprised to snag Ziggy as my forum name, and hopefully ingame name. Generally that name gets snagged really fast leaving me to invent a name similar to Ziggy. BTW I am a huge Bowie fan :-p
