differences between rifts to PQ's from warhammer:
1. PQ's did not scale to the players in a zone
2. PQ's did not spawn invasions to invade player hubs, I even saw an invasion against the Defiant capital (meridian)
3. PQ's would not spawn randomly, they were always the same, always there
4. You would not recieve quests relating to PQ's like you do for rifts
5. there were not zone wide PQ events like there are for rifts
I know most people know this, but calling a rift a PQ is misinformation.
I can see how some prefer the rewards system from PQ's compared to rifts, as you actually got gear from PQ's.
The ploblem I found with that was It just ended up being a straight line gear progression from PQ to PQ, zone to zone, and I ended up only doing the PQ's which had gear that I actually needed, otherwise what was the point as it wasn't the fastest way to lvl either.
In rift you recieve currency which can be saved up & used to buy (This is what I found so far, there may be more things) items that boost crafted gear, or epic gear itself (as well as other rewards such as planar stat boosting items which can be sloted onto your toon, among other rewards, but the main reward I think is the planar currency). Some people might not like it because they dont like having to grind gear that way, much like honor or tokens in wow, but I love it & heres why:
1. you won't have to pick & choose rifts like I said I did with PQ's as all rift rewards will be useful.
2. you end up with sweet epics if thats what you decide to use the currency on.
3. it provides a new & alternative way to acquire epics other that dungeon/raid running or pvp currency (which rift also has both of aswell).
