What do you mean what it looks like lol? it looks freaking epic to me I dont think Rift can hold a candle to it in the orginality department or the crafting department for that matter.

Candles won't matter when Rift outsells Xyson by a magnitude of 500 to 1. Rift also has more polish in Pre-Alpha than Xyson will ever have.

The 3am isnt a problem in xsyon as you can only terraform in your own terrotory, plus it locks the maximum area around the tribe for expansion.

In tribal property there is somethings that outsiders cannot do.

The statement was a use it to improve it skill system is like real life.

I was simply saying, it's not.

IN real life, you use skills that you have learned.

    You learn skills by practicing.

For example, let's say you want to learn Karate.

you don't just go fight in Karate tournaments, and learn Karate that way.

Instead, you go to a dojo, nad practice, practice, practice. Then you use what you learned in the tournament.

Cops don't learn to use a gun by shooting at criminals.

They go to the range, and practice, practice, practice, then they use those skills when they have to draw their weapon in a RL situation.

Or let's say you wan tto learn to be a farmer. You don't just go buy a tractor and start planting and hope it works. you take agriculture classes, or you work on a farm to learn from a farmer. THEN you go by a tractor and start using what you learned.

Use it to improve it systems encourage you to use the skill YOU WANT TO RAISE, not the skill that is BEST FOR THE SITUATION.

Considering Rift is set to take over the #2 spot in mmo marketshare, I don't think the proximity of their launches matters one bit. What the hell is Xyson?

I think the OP was questioning the intelligence of launching Xyson the same day as Rift, I'm sure the Dev's at Trion would also ask, what the hell is Xyson.

Speaking of which, if you have to ask then Xyson isn't for you because anyone waiting for the sort of low level sandbox that it offers is probably already aware of and has either pre-ordered or is considering ordering the game.  All others should probably steer clear, trust me on this, it won't be for you.

Yeah, 40 and 15 is probably a bit steep, but you do get 2 free months post launch and seriously, this development team (and I use that term loosely) really needs some income to keep the game going.

It might go belly up, very real possibility, know that before you buy it. Why did I buy it, when I'm not even that much of a sandbox fan?  Because it was small change in the scheme of my financial picture and I really wanted to help support a developer who is daring to be different.

As for the questions about how will players defend their cities, all very valid and expect there to be some pain and anguish in the initial go around.

So far most the players I've met, even the PVPers seem to realize that as a whole the community has to get along and hopefully no one will really be looking to drive anyone into extinction.

That's definitely a good idea on their part, but what prevents 3am raiders from swooping in on an undefended territory and taking it over? Is there a lengthly process to taking over a territory? A declaration of war with a timer?

You cannot take over tribe towns and areas at all later on you will beable to take over added land like bonus land for the tribes but you cant concour the city of the tribe.

Also, have you all seen the combat in Xyson? It's pretty simple and almost comical.

The game is releasing way too early imo.

you cant Terraform on anothers Tribes land...

Your also comparing a AAA title to a indie thats real brave Rift can sell 1000 to 1 and it dosnt matter to most indie companies its not all about the $$$ becausde they dont have big investors pushing them .

As far as Rift takeing over the #2 spot good luck with that the game is a theampark gone wrong i played in all 6 betas and had the game preordered but once i seen the light at the end of the tunnel its just another theampark catering to the casual crowd.

Xsyon will do fine rift will be ok but to sit and say its gonna take over the #2 spot is a little ahead of yourself. With games like Tor and GW2 and Planetside Next comeing out in the next few months i dont see Rift beating out any of them titles.

Tor is being Made by the best Company there is GW2 looks ok but im not 100 Sold on it either and Planetside Next is another game that will do really well as the first one did pretty well for a long time.

Bottom line i can tell your a rift fanboy but what happens when you cant do them raids either are you just gonna quit as well because there harder then DCUO not much but they are.

and Speaking of Raid content you can say what you want but there is not enough here to keep people like me involved in the game long. Lauching with 2 raid zones thats a joke when you can hit max level in 4 days . Sure the dungeons all ten of them get longer and harder but that will take all of 3 minues to complete as well hardcore players will eat rift for breakfast and go #2 in about 30 days with it complaining there isnt enough to hold them i know this because i am one of thease players and have been for 14 years playing MMO's.

Well sort of. You can't deny that you DO get better at a skill the more you practice it (in private practice OR out in the real world).

In such an open sandbox like this you ARE using the best skill for the situation. Depends what you are good with through use. Is a farmer more likely to attack you with a sword laying on the ground or the axe he uses everyday?

I agree that maybe they could include a way to level skills by practicing in a more practical manner. But you DO raise skills in real life by practicing them. Granted you don't learn to swim better by entering tournaments but you DO by just swimming around, and the game mimics that.

Cops learn to use a gun by practicing at a range, but they learn to use it in different situations involving criminals by being in those situations.

Doctors learn to diagnose by practicing in Med school, but they raise their skill by actually diagnosing REAL patients. Granted most skil based games assume you have some sort of basic knowledge to level up through use. So you don't need to be an apprentice farmer to learn to farm. Most games assume your character already has a basic knowledge of certain skills.

Does this ever actually work? I see people buy a game because they want to support it because its different but it just seems as though you help drag it along and never really explodes into what it could become. These game developers have the ideas but their budget is sadly just to low, even consumer's money won't help them. Its a shame really because they have some amazing ideas.
