I'm thinking this question is going to be very common. Xsyon is not a themepark, it's a sandbox. It's not going to hold your hand by highlighting areas on your map leading you to sparkly items telling you what to do next. So, what do you do when you start?
Do yourself a favor and watch these tutorials, they'll save you a lot of time and frustration and help you get started. Also, here is the game manual and Wiki link.
Have fun!

this reminds me. In full screen mode the windows key dosent seem to work correctly so I play either play in windowed mode so I can look at cheat sheets like a map or use my laptop for those items.
For some the whole 'glad there isnt a map in game' while also saying 'I look at the map on another computer' can be confusing to some but the reason some of us like that is because the map is player created.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

I heard that too, I hope they fix the Alt-Tab thing soon because I like to surf and do research while playing.
I think it would be kind of cool if they added Cartography later on and let players make maps by exploring. They could have them wear out like other items to keep Cartographers in business. Perhaps nothing too detailed but maybe a way to mark your camp and/or trading partners etc.

Funny..i brought up the same thing ..in game last night. I think its a great idea. I also think they should make all plants consumable....but some may make you sick.. Maybe not death ..unless you eat it again. This would put people to work documenting all the edible/poisonous plants...not to mention whatever all function they may serve...like dyes..toxins...healing...hallucination..whatever. oh well..i can dream.
Well, not sure if you guys have collected it yet, but there is currently Quartz in the game. it is possible that this may be used later on for compass's or watches or some kind of tinkerer profession. Maybe cartography.
Yes, I like it!
I remember back in the day when the UO devs gave the players coal for Christmas and everyone thought it was a joke so most peple tossed them away. Well, it turned out that the coal could be used in a dye tub to make solid black dye! Lol, coal became very valuable rather quickly!
Ahh, the good ol' days...
Nice, I was thinking about that earlier. Let's hope so! It's things like that that make sandbox games so much fun.

I was running and could have sworn I saw a crystal shape in resources..when I went back to find it..I couldn't . Thought I might have imagined it.
Easiest way for me to play Xyson is to ask a single question. What can I do that will improve my situation right now? The first thing I did when I started playing figure out how to create a fire. Afterwards, everything just started falling in place.
Right now, I am geared up with 4 Grass Knited Fanny Packs, (thats right 4 of those suckas!) a huge grass hat for the rain, a grass shirt, grass pair of pants, and multiple grass containers. I'm focusing on creating my first fishing pole so I do not have to constantly forage for nuts and berries. I NEEED FISH!!!
BOOYAKA!
Hopefully one day down the line they will have a trial for this game. I really love the sound of it, but sadly do not have the money to just willynilly spend (just spent it on my wedding getaway).
The more people talk about it though, the cooler it sounds. Only thing I haven't been impressed by, video-wise, is combat. It looks slow and clunky (WURM-like). Hopefully that gets a revamp in the future.
It's not for everyone.....I wasn't initially interested. As I read more I figured with free 2months at launch @ $40.00 for game. If I played off and on an average of 20 hrs a week,(about 4x5hrs or 5x4hrs days a week) it would be 25 cents per hour. Cheap entertainment and so far I''m having a blast. It's far from perfect...it could use better animations ..grass rendering..more flora and fauna graphics/models and engine optimization to name a few (also herbalism and cartography would be cool). Several bugs need addressing like animals swimming up and down waterfalls (makes it hard to run from 4 ninja superbears ) I'm confident or at least hopeful it will be added eventually. Even now it's pretty damn fun imo. Got ganked ...my scissors (very important for my leathercraft and other crafts) and shirt stolen...I laughed..announced the killer name in chat and tried to hunt him down to no avail.
