You must be playing Eq2 on a tin toaster if you think the player models are bad. You still need a pretty high end system to run Eq2 on high settings despite the game being over 6 years old. I think the Asian models look amazingly sharp on a high end system.

Nope maxes out but they're all just so bad. I'm not alone in thinking this, most people say it about the game

What kind of models do you prefer? Personally, I enjoy seeing realistic modeling. For instance, WoW is a fun game but the cartoonish models are just blah. The EQ2 SOGA (Alternate) models are pretty nice. And no most people, in general, don't complain about the alternate models. The complainers are always the most vocal just because the vast majority of content players don't get on forums, giving us their opinions on their experience.

Have to agree with the last poster, the character models are one of the things I like best about EQ2.  Far better than the cartoonish WoW or even LotRO models.  But I guess it just depends on what your personal preference is.  For me the more 'relaistic' look of EQ2's models is a big plus.

My only beef about how it holds up is that it's support for multi-processor systems is still shaky at best, but not sure what can be done about that without a serious engine overhaul.

The models are mediocre from a technical standpoint and horrible from an artistic standpoint. Most titles, you adjust to the models and they don't detract from the rest of the game. In EQ2, I found the models to be a continual eye sore that ruined immersion. They never grew on me. They are just jarringly distracting.

The SOGA models proved they could relatively easily incorporate new models into the game. Now, they just need art directors and modelers to design new models that actually look appealing. When one cosmetic factor can counter all the content and everything else the game has to offer, it's pretty dumb to not fix it.

I think the characters in EQ2 are just fine. There are two types depending on whether you play the pay version or the free version. And yes if anything in your game looks bad you need to upgrade something in your system. I do agree it is getting aged but still good enough to play. I never run out of things to do. I wouldn't mind them bringing out a new Everquest with more realistic models and textures. I would still play. Happy gaming.
