I have a 9700 pro I use, and you can do high quality in some areas but expect low fps.

I personily use the performance option below balanced and then make sure all the textures are medium, lighting and stuff. Turn off shadows completely this card sucks for shadows, or at least shadows in every game like doom3 farcry suck up alot of bandwidth, and turn water on to one instance i think the second or third scroll box down and turn off all flora options.

Although you can turn on water and flora full blown and still have a decent experience once you get in a big group you tend to lag a bit, I also turned off all atmophere effects and make only 2 or 3 high res characters.

As well as leaveing the distance things are rendered at a medium slider.

But hey thats just me, I like these graphics options, but soon I will have a geforce ultra 6800 extreame 256 so I may have more options enabled them ::::31::

Good Luck and watch out for Holly Windstalker!

careful, 6800's have a problem in EQ and EQ2 currently which makes gameplay rather miserable once it starts happening.

Now I know why so many people use Radeon, Nvidia just keeps coming up with more and more issues with their driver release's.

What problems do you have a link so I may purouse it and maybe make a better decision I was going to go with ATI x800 but I want the pixalshder 3.0.

Do you have a X800 and play this game or does anybody maybe have a kcikass card they would suggest for this game that will not give me problems.

    thanks!!

I was only told about it in EQ 2 by EQ 2 players, its a stuttering problem. I have a very similar problem in EQ 1 in certain zones however. I go from flying along to about 1 frame every 2 seconds. It gets rather miserable. You may wanna try doing some searches on 6800 stuttering problem and see what you come up with. Or maybe one of the EQ II players that post here will read this and drop you a link.

I have never owned a Radeon card, so I don't know much about them actually, my opinion formed on them back when they started mainstreaming their cards for $45 and went away from the very premium quality cards. This was before the Radeon line came about though. Ever since then I have always gone with Nvidia after Matrox proved they can't write drivers in a acceptable timeline.

Anyways, I hope that helps, goodluck with EQ 2.

I don't know since I don't play it but from what I gather with other players either the latest generation of radeon or a geforce 6800.

wat kinda graphics setting will a radeon x600, x800, 9600, 9800 or a geforce fx5700LE run it at?

Ok, it would break down like this:

x600 = balanced with some bells and whistles on
x800 = very high with most bells and whistles on, but you may see some lag in crowded areas
9600 = well, if youre talking 9600XT like i have, i run mine at balanced with some bells and whistless. however, i also have a very good processor to make up for some of the lacking.
9600 = high with most of bells and whistles on

anything from nVidia i dont know, i prefer ATI myself

    hope that helps =)

The 6800 series does have problems in EQ2 however, you have no idea how bad ATI's drivers are. They are about ten times worse, they still have problems detecting certain cards and many OpenGL games shutter. If you going to play any games besides EQ2, get a 6600 GT. Killd the 9800 pro for a little bit more.

if you can find a 6600GT with AGP x8 (most come in PCI-Express) that would be a great choice, or even a FX5700 Ultra.

Just went fro ma GeForce3 Ti 200 to a 6600GT.  With the ti200 I had everything in the lowest possible setting game looked horrible, and got playable frame rates

With the Ti I can put the game on the balanced and have really amazing graphics and decent fps.

I put the game in extreme Quality and got about a frame ever few seconds, but those few frames were mindblowing.
