There was a mmorpg that allowed players to do those things. It was an EA game called Motor City Online (MCO). It was very fun but only lasted about a year. They were unable to hold onto new players and EA pulled the plug when subscriptions began to decline. Lag was a serious issue during pvp races. Otherwise it was a sound concept. Unfortunately I think they marketted the game to the wrong crowd... PC gamers who had no idea how to build an engine or suspension. They should have been advertising the game in car magazines instead.
I owned a Mustang Mach 1 in the real world and I can tell you I enjoyed working on virtual cars much more. My MCO cars only cost $15 a month and didn't take up space in my garage
Yeah, maybe right
But I love Mustang and I do everything to have them!!!!
Yeah mustang is live- FOREVER!!!!!!!!
Remember "Autoduel"? That was a C64 game based on the "Car Wars" ruleset.
I'd give my right nut for a "Car Wars" MMORPG.

Auto Assault

WOW!!!! AutoAssault!!!!!!!!
That`s great game.
Thar seen very improve.
Thanks.
Auto Assault is on my Big watch list. I'm sealing my mouth from any further hype till major disclosure from Soothsayers.
They say it uses Havok Physics Engine - (The same one used for HL2).
Now if we can do stuff like we've seen in Death-Match, it would be something to behold.
I have 2 short questions:
1. That`s free game?
2. Is now full game or beta?
THX
I have no clue koolio. However I think they will most likely charge MF for it but I'm not sure.
I guess it's too early to tell.
1. No it won't be free. By the time it comes out I bet the price will be $14.95 a month.
2. The game is still in development and will probably be out mid/late next year.
UUUUUU
That`s not good.
I`m young and I dont work. I can`t pay for playing!
Many cool games are development.
THX Jaguar
ill only play a car mmorpg if it has one of the following
prelude
supra
rx7
integra
Yeah, I like classic cars
etc. Mustang, Oldsmobile, Camaro!!!!!!!!!
What about Need for Speed Underground 2 ?
You can take any unlocked stock car and add so much stuff to it! Plus they added a new feature that the first NFSU did not have, you can fully tune your car, run tests and much more!
Finally, a game that has what was cool about Gran Turismo except it's on PC, maybe even better!

Sorry that is just my first response, cause I was expecting like Jaguar, Lamborgini, Maserati, 66 GTO, stuff like that not normal street cars. Sounds like it could be a lot of fun though. Played Carwars some back in the day.

old american muscle cars are useless for circuit racing compared to modern high performance street cars. anyone know a company thats big enoughand open for idea's to suggest another mco? but with better much driving physics and a wider range of cars.....a gran turismo mmorpg would really be sweet.
Yeah, and Need for Speed Underground online will be really cool.
Well, I wanna have a Ford Mustang 66` it`s really beautiful car.
I still have to agree with the great loss that was Motor City Online. It was a great game which no one has yet to reproduce anything NEAR it at far as real customization. Yah, visual parts you can do alot in Need for Speed Underground 1 & 2......but the engine.......well you were kinda forced to choose "Level 2 Package" etc.
For those of you who don't know, Motor City Online was a real gearhead game, and had alot of guys from places like Hot Rod Magazine etc. The reason? Becaues when you bought your classic car, then you could choose the actual Engine Block you wanted with it's stock parts, then drop it in, and start swapping camshafts, intake and exhaust manifolds, and every part you could work with was a real part that either exists, or existed during that era. The Failure of MCO game in their marketing, their minimal content updates, and their lack of doing ANYTHING to keep attracting customers...........from what I understand that was about the same Marketing and Sales strategy that led to Earth & Beyond's Demise as well............
