Masthead paying for positive Reviews?

This review is so dishonest it makes me think he/she did not even play the game. This IMO is a planted positive review my the PR team.

    lol that is so funny. Either they did pay for it or you are seeing one of the major fanboys at work and yes if you do read the forums you will realise that there is a few fanboys who love the game so much that despite all the issues they still think the game is 10/10 which disgusts me.

    the review I doubt is dishonest as I think he really believes those things.

    But the emphasis on the staibility of there servers at launch shouldnt of been glossed over that lightly.

    I like the game alot to be honest and agree its fun and love the world its in. But theres very little to do outside killing mobs or pvp.

    I do like the way crafring is implelemneted buts its very mucha chore now, he made its sound easy, you have to be very very dedicated to be a crafter in this game.

    the controls are akwards at first but then second nature afterwhile.

    Things like chat, invnetory sorting, skill sorting, skill balancing, instant teleoprting away during pvp, all need to be adressed, but I think there just working on getting lag and dysnch nailed down tight first.

    That has to be one of the worst reviews I've ever read.  There is no way that person spent one second playing the game.  Reviews have never been trustworthy, it's much better to always either get firsthand experience if you can, or hear from a friend or peer that has experience.  Sad, sad, sad review.

    Statements like:

    "it just seemed like a highly polished MMO that would take up a lot of my time."

    and

    "t seemed I would finally find an MMO that was good enough to give fierce competition to the legendary World of Warcraft"

    Wow......

    Wow...rather pathetic

    I think ridiculous pieces like that will actually hurt the game.

    Guys, I would be more concernerd if that was a IGN or gamespot review... its just some little piss-poor indie game review site, don't take it as the gospel.

    Also, please note in the upper left hand corner theres an advertisement for "now hiring experienced journalist". LOL

    Its one persons review. Most of us on these forums know better than to simply read one review and take it as we are done and the game is good or bad.

     I did not read the review but from the feedback that i have gotten already i take it as over the top and 2 thumbs up, for a indie game that has potential, but needs work.

  • BaihuigauBaihuigau Member Posts: 80

    Actually the 3 reviews released so far have all been like that including the mmorpg one, sounds like their pr team threw a few bucks towards the reviewers, funny thing is it looks like their account had some special acess, how are these guys going through alot of the skills, crafting options and so on when it takes at least 3-4 days to get all the skills to make t1 armor, kind of

    strange, on a unrelated note i decided to throw 50 bucks their way just to give them a little support since i feel sorry for them to be honest and their game keys still cant even be registered for a new player rofl ^ ^, 7 days into release and their web team still has not figured out the registration issues.............facepalm.

    Yes but they have it on the front page of the earthrise website. People will visit the site and actually beleive this garbage.

    I doubt MH would pay for positive reviews, especially they don't  spend any money on normal marketing. The game is hardly known to anyone for its own good. The real state of the game is quite obvious, it is a paid  beta for a small number of devoted fans and people who think about themselves as art patrons...

  • BaihuigauBaihuigau Member Posts: 80

    Rofl art patrons, thats a nice way to put it, i like that.

    All the reviews I've read so far have been pure fluffy-turd, while they highlight what the game offers they don't say anything about gameplay. I rather read player opinions than payed reporters because frankly I'm loosing faith in the validity of these game sites giving consumers any real reports worth reading.

    THey don't spend money on advertising?

    The Ads to purchase Earthrise on various mmo websites are not free.

    I really don't understand why indie companies who make games do not plot them out as free to play. The chances of them releasing a blockbuster game and actually making a hefty profit from sub is slim. Only company I can think of that pulled it off was CCP with Eve, you could also maybe lump Darkfall into that category, but it would have been helped a ton by a F2P model.

    F2P drops the barriers and is pretty much a money sink for people. Deco items for characters/housing sell like hotcakes at 20-30$ a set. Exp/skill boost items sell very very well too. They could pull in more per month from the few people who really like the game  than what they would when the free month runs out and they lose a lot of subs.

    Sad to see companies so set in the subscription model.

  • BaihuigauBaihuigau Member Posts: 80

    All depends on what the nextt couple of patches bring, if they dont straighten it out by the end of the month, people are not going to sub, so if they dont fix things by the end of the month i see them probably going free2play, hell they havent even fixed the game key issue yet.

    Paying for positive reviews?.... lol... It's just that some ppl, unlike a bunch of huys here, actually have taste and appreciate a good game.

    Strange, it seems everyone is bitching about the same things in chat. (lag,desync,warp...)    I guess many of us haven't acquired a taste for horrible performance and server/zone crashes.

    Yeah someone told me I should try to put my sarcastic comments in italic.

    Still it's true.

    The game sort of reminds me of modern art. You go to one of those museums and a bunch of hipsters are looking at a blank Canvas with a tiny black dot in the center, that's it. Yet they ooh and ah over it saying "I think it's a post modernist self referential satire on modern consumerist culture and how it relates to societies loss of moral standerds." and another says " I think it's an outcry against male oppression as well as a statement on corperation's oppresive hold on society blah blah blah." No it's a dot on a page. This game is broken, yet people ignore it pretending that those are just minor issues and that it's a great game because it's "unique and different" and of course they throw around the word "potential." Then they act smug talking about how smart they are for liking sandbox games while those dumb themepark players yada yada. Then the  fanboys go to the ER forums (which should really just be called the Earthrise circle jerk) and pat eachother on the back forplaying such an intelligent game and attacking nay-sayers because they just "don't get it."

    Except i'm as cynical as they come, especially in this genre, and i really like Earthrise. I once made a highly critical review on the official STO boards post-launch, it reached 100+ pages and lasted 2 weeks with 45,000 views slating what could have been a great game. It was however more polished than Earthrise, but, it's mechanics, gameplay and game direction absolutely sucked and i cancelled my order. My point is, here i am playing Earthrise in desperate need of polish, im playing with 15-20 FPS maximum on my above average spec PC because i love its mechanics, gameplay and direction.

    The Twilight Saga is a steaming pile of teeny-bopper dog sh*t yet millions of people eat it up. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. Some people are so tired of the theme-park repeat-o-grind recycle-rinse-repeat they're willing to wade through mud to find the shiny gem at the bottom. Funnily enough it's quite refreshing.

    You know this game could be great, and it has good things about it, I just don't like it when some of the followers (not you) play down some of the games very serious flaws.

    The UI in the screenshots are missing elements that are in live. Hmm.

    what mechanics? combat is better in any other RPG than in this game, its easier to control, faster and more tactical. WTF is so good about PVP in ER besides jumping with ur crosshair on ur enemy?  WHy i said PVP mechanics because theres NOTHING else in the game that has any "mechanics"

    I just read on their official forums that the game client itself is still in debug mode.  It's creating massive logs in appdata folders.  Some were reporting this log folder was as big as 6gb lol.  Someone else figured out how to edit the .lua to turn off the logging.  Kind of crazy that people would release a product in this state and call it a finished product.

            log_level = Severity.Debug,

            log_target_1 = {

                    LoggingTargetType.lttConsoleLog,

                    Severity.All,

                    Facility.AllFacilities,

                    "stdout"

            },

    --      log_target_2 = {

    --              LoggingTargetType.lttFileLog,

    --              Severity.All,

    --              Facility.AllFacilities,

    --              "Earthrise_" .. LogTimeStamp() .. ".log|truncate|flush"

    Yep still running in debug mode, see?
