It will be Rift, since I canceled my sub on WoW for it.

I'll move on to Rift, but in the end, I'll probably go back to WoW, like 90% of the people here, no matter if the voted as such or not.

This has me curious, because it's so different from how I approach games: why 'go back to WoW' if you've played it a few years, seen and done everything in it and all that's left is endless raiding and doing the same raids and kind of raiding over and over and over again?

A fresh new game that has a different 'look and feel' to it, and where the game mechanics can play out differently than what I'm used to sounds less boring to me than playing the same game I've been playing for years and that I'll almost know by heart.

The only good reason to 'go back to a former MMO I've played for years' whether that's LotrO, WoW, AoC or another I can think of is because of my friends may be there or if it has a great community.

The community doesn't impress me so far, so it's probably not worth subscribing to any of them, though they're both good games.

Look at that almost 70%, and that is why the WoW fanbois are freaking out, ranting raving and posting so many flames and outright lies.

Everyone thats given RIFT an honest chance realizes quickly its 10X ahead of where WoW or any other game has ever been at this point in its developement.

They may not be scared of what RIFT is right now, but think back and realize Everquest wasn't worried about what WoW was when WoW came out. It was small, buggy, cartoony, and did not have a ton of capital to work with. Look at it now..

The fear of RIFT is what it can and will be given 2 or 3 years and the finances to keep adding content and improving the game.

Oh they better be afraid, very very afraid.

If you want another themepark, better wait for Star Wars

If you want a sandbox, Xsyon is launching on 18th

I will try both but will most probably stay in Xsyon, because as much as I love Star Wars universe and Bioware games, themepark mmos bore me to death...

TOR has been pushed back. You've got a long wait.

And if people want a AAA sandbox they better wait for Arche Age.

    I'm waiting.

On a Rift forum, more people are picking Rift, and you're surprised? Especially one on this site....

Granted, WoW is really built these days for retention, not for new players, which is why you see so many players in epic leveling gear while you, as a new player, feel terribly isolated and outgunned.

This is the exact reason why I decided to leave WoW.

I unfortunately started playing about 8 months before Cataclysm launched.  Just as I was getting my first toon to 80 - the sh*t hit the fan and I was lost all over again (with the patch before Cata launch).  I never even read quests or explored the world like you SHOULD while playing an MMO.  It was just "try to get the best gear I can so I can catch up with everyone else" kind of thing.

I was too frusterated and felt no enjoyment from the game apart from the social aspect...not worth my month sub fee.

    Aye :)

Don't forget mmorpg.com is a place for the desperate mmorpg addicts who are either waiting for a new fix or looking for one, you wont find large amounts of happy wow-4-lifers posting here.

Also a neither for me by the way. I'm still waiting for something breaking the mold a little more.

  • VolgoreVolgore Member EpicPosts: 3,872

    Neither of them.

I canceled WoW some time ago, because after 5+ years there was only boredom left.

So, quitting WoW out of boredom, why would i want to play Rift? Give me at least ONE THING new and you can probably count me in for another 5+ years again.

BTW: Dungeonfinder incoming -even more WoW for Rift. We're not in Azeroth anymore?

I posted one up on the mmorpg WoW forum, too. Not as much action over there, but Rift was still significantly ahead last I checked.

It'd be interesting to post this in the WoW forums and see how the poll differs.

I chose neither. I enjoyed my time in Rift beta, but not enough to subscribe. If I had to choose one though, it'd be Rift.

    Playing - EVE, Wurm

Retired - Final Fantasy XI, Anarchy Online, Mabinogi

    Waiting - ArcheAge, Salem

i invested  so much money and time into wow  and i still cant raid in a given class because of pvp/ pve "balancing

they got 5 years of my business and im less satisfied every year

its time to give someone else a shot

so many good suggestions are given on the forums ....there ignored

people say hey feral druids bleeds are crazy damage.....nothing    paragon gets world first  with 11 feral druids in raid.

well ban hammer falls like mad

so many things i loved about wow are gone, RPG things unfortunatly i dont think right rift  will give that back to me

but makeing a toon and playing it the way i want right now  with this class system in rift is the best  ive ever  seen

just wish the quests were more engageing

It is posted on the WoW side. Go check it out. The results were interesting to me.

I actually had fun during the Rift beta, but there were also quite some things I disliked. I guess I will have fun for a while when the game is actually launched, but I'm also pretty sure I won't have fun for long, so I won't purchase it.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

I voted neither reason is very simple

After all said and down I do believe this will be the GAME for all. I much rather be patient and spend my dollars on a real good investment and not let shark frency take over my better senses.

It's a simple case of evolution for me.

RIFT is from the same mold as WOW but is far more up-to-date.

I for one haven't played WOW for ages because I simply cannot stand the graphics quality any longer. That may sound shallow but when your staring at a screen for hours on end it bloody matters, particularly when the game's aim is to engross the player in an imaginary 'world'!

It's a bit like being able to appreciate a girl's personality and intelligence, but if you don't find her physically attractive there's never gonna be no lead in your pencil or desire to take it any further.

RIFTs putting the lead in my gaming pencil, lol!

i have been playing wow again since cata!yes they pretty much reverted to how vanilla wow was!is it enough?mm dont think so !not because the graphicv arent nice etc ,if you play in the comfig wtf file you can have graphic as great as your computer allow.

no people just moved on !some went to p2p  or will son(aika global will be a good venting solution for the pvper in all of us.but must just went to facebook game like farmville etc.wow is still the best game.i would go wow.but i enjoyed aika so much in beta (gpotato)that i will try aika global (t3fun)when it is avail.ya we left aika when they ipblocked various part of the world on gpotato

no global meant no more epic pvp!
