We are considering setting up additional servers in both the US and Europe that will be more war oriented where we will remove safe zones and make some adjustments. At the moment this is very likely, but we have no set date for this.

I was so hyped about this game until now. Splitting an already small population on different servers is not a good idea. I thought this jooky was a smart guy. Its even worse when the game world is so large as it is in this game. Dammit im really dissapointed now. Im not even sure if i will buy the game.
who the F** says that the current populations ( before launch!) is low ????
Everywere you go you find people and tribes setup.. and this aint even the full player base as lots -LOTS- are not playing atm as they tested what they wanted to test now waiting for the offical launch. I hardly logon myself anymore.
The only one who can see the real numbers is the dev.
I think , instead of more servers...they should endeavor to add more territories to accomodate. Even if there is a loading time from one to the other. Then again...I am no programmer and know coding about as well as I know how to speak enochian. Just really believe that it should stay a one server world as long as technologically and financially possible. The game was never touted with a focus on PvP and shouldn't be compromised on it's account. Only if it ensures it's survival...but I am not aware of any game that has gone under strictly because PvP demands were not met.(... though I'm sure there may be one or two)..especially since it is not central to the Xsyon's main features and functioning.
Ok guys, Jooky has responded about additional servers:
"Hello everyone!
This is definitely not an expected reaction! I've been getting requests for a European server all year.
I'd like to clarify this situation.
We are preparing a European server in case we need it. As I see this overall negative reaction, if we don't need the second server it will not be turned on until we physically need it. This is not a matter where we can upgrade the machine or bandwidth, we are already going to have the maximum available to us.
I do plan to run a European download server as soon as possible and a trial server will be a necessity for free trials. I will not allow 'free trials' to create the possibility for players to create free accounts that would affect the live Xsyon world.
There will be a point where the Xsyon world can't accomodate the population, and where the population on one server will be too large to form a tight cohesive community.
The original plan that we will follow is to add new lands that run on separate but connected servers (much like what is done with EVE Online), this would effectively create neighborhoods of communities that play together, but this is not something that can be done overnight.
If we grow too fast, we will have to split the world. We are not there yet, of course. I am simply preparing for this scenario. We are growing quickly and as many of you have probably noticed, this is without any advertisement or direct promotion on our part. I've answered a few interviews and announced the launch in early January, but that's all.
If we do need additional servers, nobody will be forced to play on a specific server and players will be allowed to create characters on both servers. It will simply be an option. I was ready to offer than option now rather than later and that's all. If it does not seem necessary it will not be done.
I hope that alleviates the concerns."

That's true. I have barely covered any territory. Maybe a small very small arc around the lake and up a bit into the mountains (at one point to the very top of one high-arse mountain). ..but I don't have to walk far to see other players with tehir settlements, campfires, etc. If this is a sample of the population around the lake then it seems a good indication for growth. Fingers crossed for the future.
ITs a good point, but I think they are curently a bit restricted to what they can do in how many time. its easy to setup a new server but hard to open up more land that 1: needs dev to builds, most of the team was sacked a while agoand curently the owner is hireing new staff. the dev(s) working on the game curently are streamlining it, removing bugs and sutch. 2: the game follows a story, it needs to meet sertain requirements done by the player in order to grow.
3: there were a bunch of eu based players asking for a eu server. (rather large bunch)
so if you take everyting the option to setup a server is the best one at this time. thees plenty of players, enoug to filll two worlds. and a bt of breading space for eveyone aint bad for this game. seeing a campfire in any direction next to you does not give this world is destroyed feeling..
Well...despite concerns..his explanations are sensible. Especially the trial server. Well..I'm playing regardless and best of fortunes, both in luck and finances, to Notorious Games and Xsyon.
I think diff ruleset servers would be good but ofc the pvp/griefer types aren't gonna like that why? Because all pvp servers in any mmog always has lower population and less chances to grief everyone else so the hardcore pvpers will be dead against diff servers. And I played UO pre tram and Anarchy-Online for 5+ years so I am not against pvp but the griefers will ruin this game 6 months into it if they do not have a diff ruleset for them.If they want this game to survive long term they cannot depend on pvpers to support it.Take a look at most ffa pvp games and where they are now.
I'm really curious to see how many griefers and so-called hardcore pvp'ers actually do stay around. With secure tribe lands for at least 6 months and possibly up to 9 or 12 months, that is a very long time for these guys to stick around and be satisfied with only opportunistic gankings and no real chance to hit a tribe for any significant purpose. I have to think that between the 18th and Feb 18th of 2012 there will be another flavor-of-the-month open pvp game to bitch about and Xsyon will be an afterthought for that crowd.
My opinion is that they NEED the new EU server.
They have a game with twitch combat and are looking into making it more twitch heavy (aka Mount & Blade style combat). There's just no way you can do that with the current server setup.
The alternative would be to implement a standard MMO combat system. Personally I would prefer the standard MMO combat approach but I don't believe it would be welcomed by the current community in Xyson.

Well, larsa, many people from the EU report pings around 100-200 currently. I am currently in the US and get 78 ping constantly. I don't think it was ever a question of lower pings, it was more of a balance the server load type deal.
IMO opinion unless they get a landslide in sub numbers I'd try to keep the number of alternate servers (and rulesets) low in order to make the best game possible using the somewhat limited resources available.
For the more "warfare oriented" there is always Darkfall, they should stay over there until the day comes when Xyson is just awash with subs/cash, then alternatives could be considered.
But I'd tell Jooky to pay close attention to what CCP has done. They offer no alternatives (outside of the aborted China server), there's one ruleset, everyone abides by it. Plenty of PVP to be found all over EVE for those who want it. (0.0, empire wars, wormhole combat, faction wars etc) yet the game is pretty safe for the more pve oriented individual (not every realizes this)
You start trying to please everyone by creating alternate rulesets and you'll end up pleasing no one.

I can agree with that somewhat problem is the hardcore pvpers are already on the official forums raging and wanting them to shorten prelude time or allow them to attack inside tribe areas etc etc.I enjoy pvp but not the mindless lets go grief random people just to grief them.Population in this game is gonna be touchy at best for awhile if it gets to the point to where ppl leave due to b eing griefed to death the game overall suffers and your left with a handful of toolbags who then leave as well because there isn't alot of ppl to grief.
Worstluck (nice handle btw), I am in the EU (Germany now) and get mostly 125 - 150 pings but with spikes to 1000 every 2 or 3 minutes.
You might be right that they're more thinking about balancing server load at the moment, I don't know the reasons. Might also have to do with their future plans concerning tribe warfare.

Hehe, I'm getting the feeling that the more "warfare oriented" people as you nicely called them don't like to wait but instead migrate rather quickly to another game where there's a lot of "sheep" to kill.
