All these "Rewiews"

Fun to see ppl bashing Rift left and right.

I`m not gona bother to much whit this, just read the forum and was appauled of the trolls, or just nay-sayers.

I`v gamed for past 8-9 years, alwyas lvled atleast 2 chars in the game to cap (exept lotro as that game was seond to worst, only beatn by DDO)

So, i see ppl whine on how bad the game is when they usualy never get over lvl 20, even seen ppl decide the game is fail at lvl 5.

Seen ppl claim pvp is dead, and they wasn`T even out of the starter zone where you aren`t even pvp enabled,

give it until you are in the pvp zones atleast befor you trash world pvp...

I did play beta 6 and in b7 now, slowing it down so i don`t have to do everythign again on release,

and yeah, i pre ordred.

I bet the flaming will comence stating i am a fan boy since i apperently liek the game.

But atleast i did try out various classes, lvls, zones and gamestyle.

Everything i see on this forum is ppl who don`T know jack about the game, and then think they can give a valid rewiew on it.

At end of beta 6 i saw a couple of good procons of the game, and i read all i bothered of both sides.

I can say i did play WoW since open beta, and have jumped of for a 2 - 4 months to another game from time to time,

But i canceled my acc month into cata (i liekd cata, but they made a TBC clone sort of, its wow back to square 1 imo)

And after that i didnt play any game at al, after x mas i did try a few F2P but they are usless if you liek a good game.

I do most of all belve in the rift crew of Devs, and if im guesing anyhting right, the end game in Rift will be beyond

any of the relases we have had past few years, so yeah, i think it will do fine, and if pppl complain, Devs have shown us that

they DO listen and will reasonably fast reply and make the game more entertaining.

So, befor you start crapping all over Rift (or other games) whait for release, play to cap and have fun )or dont we)

PS: and to who ever complained it was 1 -2 weeks to lvl cap, and was casual crap?

WoW from lvl 1 to 80 is around 4 days..i did 6,2 days my self as a holy priest just questing and instances 70+.

and taking my time lvling 80 - 85 took me 2 days and i was really taking it slow, so dont bash Rift based on Beta lvling speed (when u get more XP than normaly for ppl to see content, as you also failed to understand.)

It is important to respect the thoughts, opinions, and reviews of other players much in the way that you would wish others to respect your thoughts, opinons, and reviews.  People are allowed to dislike RIFT.  People are allowed to like RIFT.

While certain people may disagree with what points one group may bring up, there are those that agree with them.  Much like the reverse would hold true, since with one side obviously disagreeing - the other side agreeing with themselves, they would disagree with the side that disagrees.

People do not need to agree on everything.  Just because somebody does not like something that you do, does not mean there is any reason to get defensive.  Much like if somebody else does like something you do not, there is no reason for them to become defensive if you state your opinion on the matter.

Instead of continuing to foster the divide between those that like and those that dislike RIFT, would it not be much simpler to trust in the intelligence of those that have not tried the game to come to their own conclusions?  They can see all the PROS listed out and they can see all the CONS listed out.  From there, they can choose to act accordingly - whether it is a case that they decide to go ahead and try it for themselves or to pass on the game.

There are a lot of rather insulting verbage being thrown about by members of both sides (as it appears that nobody can be somewhere in the middle short of being the target of both sides), no?

Perhaps instead of adding more negative statements into the mix, those that want to push the good elements of the game should simply do that while those that feel the game has nothing to offer are free to share their opinions.

For the most part, I would like to think most of us are smart enough to ignore those that are blatantly trolling.

i don`t mind ppl who disslike the game, domeone does, someone doesn`t.

Its the format on how they put it in that irks me, i agree, my post was a bit of /rage on.

I can say the same for Rift fans who just disses other games whit no point of referance at all.

But if you reed the forums, most of the negative posts are so trollish and blatantly dissrespective.

I was mostly thinking of new players looking for a game and came across of forums where, whit no regards of

a fair trial they shoot it down.

But yes, i agree whit you, i usualy never stoop to this lvl and /flame /rage, i just read the posts and some pages of its thread, snorts and move on.

was in no way intended to sound liek a elitistasshat andor a jerk.

Was not suggesting that you were - I was trying to be fairly neutral in what I was saying, because all in all - whether it is the people trolling or the people tired of the trolling becoming enraged; that is what the new player sees.

It is one of the few areas where taking the high road can allow you privately to point and laugh or even share it with some friends elsewhere.  One of the curious things about many of the threads is that with the constant commenting to the contrary of what is being said, it is quite literally feeding the troll by bumping the thread.

RIFT is an evolutionary game, and it deserves a chance to succeed or to fail of its own accord.  It has taken a hit lately on the community aspect, and that is hugely unfair to the members of the community that are helpful.

Was really just a case of saying that we have no control over what somebody else is saying other than to use the reporting feature here, but we do have control over what we say ourselves.  What kind of image do we want to present of ourselves and of the RIFT community?

So were going on a "all reviews not fawning over Rift are not reviews but bashing" rant?

Some people were rightfully dissapointed.  It doesnt offer anything new, other than the look.

There was a LOT of hype, and as i warned leading up to it, over hype always produces a lot of dissapointed people.  Back then it was all "NO Rift will change gaming forever, its going to be revolutionary...ect"  Now that we see the game for what it is, these reviews confirming these truths will come out.

Its not a bad game, it does have issues, and anyone whos been playing AAA P2P games the last 10 years wont be blown away by anything they see or do, in fact its more or less the same trip we all have been through.

Hell you see it in most chatter about this game, most are playing it untill something "good" comes out.  Or are playing it just because its new and they are bored with their old game.

The question is, whats going to keep these players after they all hit 50 in one month, mabey 2?  We wont see any endgame untill after launch, but im not exactly expecting anything i havent already seen.  Even if its a warhammer style castle seige, followed by standard themepark endgame affairs, which wouldnt be so bad imo....but again nothing new or special.

I will say that it does suck not to be fawning over this game, there just really isnt much else new out there, and the big games on the horizon have an insane amount of hype behind them, and typically those types of games dissapoint big time.

You are definitely right about there being trolls in game and on every forum anywhere that talks about Rift. But what would you expect for a new upcomming game that has as much potential as Rift does? Haters will hate. I love the game and I'm not letting all the crap get to me.

I'd personnally put it in a single sticky on top of Rift -> General Discussion, like the Rift Comparison thread. Those user reviews, while some are interesting, are very tricky to reply to as it may spawn discussion on different topics at the same time, within the same thread. And in that confusion, it often derails into "Me vs y'all" flame war.

I sent the suggestion to mmorpg.com... Feel free to reply.

I havent been aroun d much.  But anyway, the game (Rift) is fun.  Isn't that enough..heh.  Really.  Im having as much fun, on a pvp server, as I did with WoW 6-years ago when it first came out, and stuck with it for 6-months until I realized there was no end-game.

Then I became another mmo transient, and had found my most fun with AoC, until again, I discovered there was no end-game, and left after 4 months.

Now I'm liking Rift, and when I hit level 50, we'll see if it can hold my attention and whether the devs are as competent as they think they are with rich breadth and depth of end-game, level-cap game-play.

Its' yet to be seen, but no mistaken that 2011 is starting off to be a good year for mmo's I think.

OP, it's a little hypocritical to bash other games in defense of one you like.

Welcome full of hope and hype soul! welcome to mmorpg.com

Now I will teach you about the kind of people we have in here, we have the mmo veterans that will always bash something that even remembers them WoW (Rift), we have the trolls, but now this kind branches into too, the fail troll and the professional troll, if ya want an example of a professional troll, look at "Robertdinh" posts these are very rare around here, and then you have the fail troll, which will just say baseless shit about any game.

You have the experienced mmo players that divides between being polite/reasonable and those who will be very close to the fail trolls..

Then you have the pre-cu SWG players that are in a contant war against the SW:TORers, the sandbox lovers, and finally the people that simply dont care at all for shit and are just browsing here while in the job..

Of course the majority are of fail trolls and experienced fail trolls mmo players, but time from time you find polite people..

    Well this is it..

    PS:I dislike Rift -> opinion

Dont be a noob, you will be respected if you manage to defend your game without having to bash other games.. this is called skillz

Well I'm an SWG vet and played quite a few mmo's.  There is a lot to like about Rift.  I predict that it will do very well in sales.  For people who don't like it, I think there are just different tastes in mmo's and it's simple as that.

Rift takes what has come before and incorporates it into a very polished experience.  This is not the first time this has been done, and though it is to their credit, the game feels like a been there done that experience.  They do try to break out of the mold a bit by combining souls and that is a very interesting element.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this game will get very high ratings, and I think much deserved.  I'm leaning toward not buying it at the moment, even though I am very impressed with what they have done, but only because I'm just looking for a different kind of experience.  But saying that, I love the graphics and performance so I could break down and get it, just to kill some time here and there.  I have a really cute female dwarf just begging for me to play her.  She's so cute!  (why couldn't LOTRO avatars look this good ?!)

  • PortizPortiz Member UncommonPosts: 62

IMO Beta Testers forget one major thing! The devs created a server system that gives them the option to add monsters objects or other things into the game servers without shutting them down. As far as i know there will be other things then Invasions also. In other words no other mmo not even "wow" has that kind of system!

  • adam_noxadam_nox Member UncommonPosts: 2,148

everything else aside, it's great to see someone else hates LOTRO besides me.  I've never seen a game with so many fans fail so hard.

    Dinams is spot on.

Many people here are VERY eager to state that just about every new MMO out will 'fail'.  Why? To get that feeling of euphoria when they are correct and able to spam the game forums with 'I told you so' posts.  I now get a feeling the average MMORPG poster probably doesn't even play any mmorpgs as none live up to their exacting standards.

I've seen mention that we are to 'respect' the views and opinions of other gamers... to this I say 'poppycock'!  Each one of us has a different take on what makes a good game and as such no single game can fit everyones mould.  You'll always get people that detest certain aspects of a game.  I believe that we should trust in our own views and opinions and those of our gamer friends; not the trolls and the baiters.  My general take would be to respect the player not the view and move on.

I've said it before and I shall state it again; it is incredibly easy to slate a game and state that it will fail (recent experience shows that many new MMOs completely fail within months of launch), it is a much harder thing to take a chance and hope a game suceeds.
