    Thanks!

Outdoor raids look pretty awesome IMO. The indoor one looked similar to others but it seems, as with everything, they're putting a lot of thought and effort into it.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

Rift » the only mmorpg that is actually ready for release in the last decade.

  • gambe1gambe1 Member UncommonPosts: 123

    This looks quite awesome.

  • BlindchanceBlindchance Member UncommonPosts: 1,112

Raids...fail that's not end game content that's just another hamster wheel. You can call pvp and pve territory control, player run castles end game content but not raids.

  • gambe1gambe1 Member UncommonPosts: 123

There will be pvp as well. Just imagine going to a rift raid, when opposite faction players appears :). There are going to be some epic battles. Even more so, if number of rift raids per hour (day) will be limited. It is a great way to promote world pvp.

Sadly I agree even if I would say for the last 5 years. GW was ready (yeah, it is more a CORPG). LOTRO was pretty ready as well even if it lacked a lot of content, it had all the basics working fine.

But I think the game still need an expansion to truly shine. They are getting feedback now that the quests aren't that good and they did surprisingly listen to other stuff the community told them so my guess is that they will make try to improve the questing when they release new content.

Rift is a pretty good game but I think it could get a lot better still, all the basics are there and working now, it is of course the most important right now but it will be interesting to see where the game is in 3 years.

Rift is PvE-centered. raiding is pve-endgame. Always has been, always will be.

So? Just because the game is PvE centered does not mean it should not have PvP endgame. From the FAQ:

Will there be Player vs. Player combat in RIFT?

RIFT will definitely offer many forms and fashions of Player vs. Player (PvP) combat. More details will be released about our PvP systems and servers in the near future.

I have to agree with you guys. Rift is not perfect (perfect game 100k players not happening) but rift is to complaints about half done games like what WoW was to complaints about grind. It is a strong release in terms of the most popular complaint of the day. True we will have to see where the game is in a few years but for now and likely the next 9 months if they find their audience and get players to stick with it I don't see rift being kllled by other big releases.

Okay...so what's the problem with endgame raiding again?

I dont get is PvP endgame? You mean battle grounds or owning areas? There really isnt much more to it then.. If you PvP you are likely going after pk totals, ranks, and PvP gear which is all fine and dandy. I did have a question watching that open world 10 man on a PvP server couldn't you find a way to gank the party?

Nothing but there should be PvP endgame as well because it is clearly advertised as having many forms of PvP.

this. releasing with endgame = one step closer to success.

Agree, I can't tell you how surprised I am that an MMO is actually releasing with endgame content already developed.  This shouldn't be surprising...but based on what we've seen over the last few years...it is.

    seems nice....

tho the game feels just the same like other MMOs we'v been playing  for the past 6 years

u guys enjoy it tho and have fun :)

but me ............. I need somthing new

  • RavenRaven Member UncommonPosts: 2,005

This game looks good, it looks polished and I think it deserves credit, like people have said it is one of the first MMORPG's in years to actually be ready for release, I can only praise Trion for that.

Sadly I will not be playing this, not because its not good or unpolished, but because I want something else, the raids look stunning and I think a lot of ppl will have fun with it, but as with everything after having played PVE oriented games over the last 5 years I feel I need some more player run content, and by that I dont mean fully sandboxed games, as that doesnt really suit me, more like L2 type of control with sieges and casltes and some political system.

Regardless of my opinion it looks great and it should be a good release.

So you guys prefer a copy to an original content just because it is polished at launch?  Probably Vanguard, AoC and many other could be made into spectacular games if only community sticked by them. But no, community wants a polished game ... well, the problem with polished games is that they don't introduce anything new since the new ideas most often bring unbalance, bugs and other unwanted side effects.

Why is it that two of the most polished games in last 5 years were LOTRO and RIFT? simply, because they bring NOTHING new. They are just copies of tested product. And community goes OMFG this is awesome!!!!!! I don't know about you guys but I would prefer a new MMO to a clone even if it means that I need to play not so polished game for a year or so. With this attitude you will play copies of one game for next 10 years.
