Hulkageddon event prizes for tears - Are they trying to get done for griefing?

evemaster00evemaster00 Member Posts: 171

One of the features of the current hulkageddon is prizes for the best ganked miner tears. They're enticing players to not only grief random people by blowing them up but also verbally grief them further in hopes of getting "tears" from them. These are CCP's paying players being treated as garbage.

They've pushed things a bit too far this time, with this. Wouldn't you think CCP would do something about the organised griefing attempt? Seems they don't care to uphold the eula.

Shut up. I have industry characters too...and I'm participating in Hulkageddon. Verbal abusing bears isn't necessary. Just screen shotting their chat logs or better yet...getting them to join a vent/TS channel is where the real entertainment is. Knowing that this has become an annual event...please plan ahead. EvE isn't for the uninformed.

Prepare a SS, bubble the gate in a dead end system, fit a cloak..do something other than cry...there endth the lesson.

Hulkageddon is pain it the ****

    But thats EVE, mate.

If you didnt have constant danger of ganking, would mining and hauling be fun ? I say not.

But Its not CCP endorsed. Its set up by some ritch pirate corp.

So what can you do ?

    Except stay docked ?

BTW i flew my hauler trough 0.4 sec during last Hulkageddon , nobody even looked at me ;)

I ain't here to cry. I'm just pointing out a fact that CCP seems to have missed. If what the event is encouraging isn't griefing then I don't know what is. I've played EVE since the month it launched, probably years longer than yourself, so you can stop with the lesson crap :)

Nothing to do with CCP other than it's an event being held in the game they own. Yeah CCP better stay out and mind their own business. Oh wait, EVE online is their business.

CCP doesn't give a crap about their non-hardcore PVP'er player base. Hell, the devs themselves are probably taking part in the griefing, laughing all the while.

  • HaegemonHaegemon Member UncommonPosts: 267

Aren't griefing-events like this good for EVEs business though?

The only 2 things I see ever causing EVE to get a random sub-bump is either a new content upgrade, or some mass-scale griefing event.

Genocide, Ponsi-Schemes, Corp. Imbezzlement, full-scale piracy or the destruciton of over $1000 IRL dollars worth of PLEX.

Those things get EVE new/returning sub-numbers. Those things are 100% player driven, just like Hulkageddon.

And also, if it was Hulkaggedon 1, you may have a leg.

It's Hulk-4, which means CCP has been A-OK with this player-created/run event three times in the past.

Why should CCP do something about it to start with? CCP devs have said a dozen times allready, that they're perfectly fine with stuff like this.

Actually I don't even bother to change anything for when Hulkageddon happens. I simply keep AFKing in my Hulk like I allways do. Never was ganked in 5 years AFK mining. not even attacked once, as I'm mining in a remote system where usually noone comes along.

I'm actually happy, if there's other miners being ganked, as it rises my profits ^^

Do you have any reason to believe that CCP isn't going to take appropriate action against someone who breaks the rules and is reported?

If you are a hardcore vet of many years you should know these are the tears they seek. I'm a CareBear and I think this even is funny as all. The tears come without "trash talking." I find it odd you had to make a new account to post this on a third party forum though, sounds like you may be in the running for the tears catagory. If worse comes to worse, they advertise the dates of the event, it's pretty easy to avoid.

  • CactusJackCactusJack Member UncommonPosts: 393

this is has been discussed ad nauseaum. If CCP had an issue with it, they would have stopped this type of behavior. Your reference to "griefing" is not inline with the EULA. I am not going to argue with you why that is. It is as stated. If you are unhappy, or feel the need to "speak for the indy players/bears" they either have to prepare for this event..or they don't.

You should bring up how newbs will never catch vets in sp next. It's the same 7 or so arguments.

Hulkageddon is not an OFFICIAL event, like the Alliance Tournament or EvE Fest. It is a player run event.

Stating that you have been playing for a long time, and you are here complaining about Hulkageddon smells of troll to me.

I would have just preferred to been RR'd. Thanks in advance.

Funny thing is the Devs usually pop up in the "official" Hulkageddon threads supporting it, and the tears don't need smack from the people doing the ganking to flow they come on their own.

Just look at all the crying on the forums this weekend already.

I certianly don't sympathize with the people who derive joy from it, but Hulkageddon doesn't bother me. Not so attached to the game that it tears me up to avoid a certain activity for a while.

Hulkageddon is overrated tbh, their only dangerous to miners. well.. miners without experience anyway.. can't say i agree with the verbal abuse though, thats a sign of poor character rather than anything else, kind of expect that from 12 year olds in school playgrounds..  still small things please small minds.. and for hulkageddon.. thats about par for the course image as for the guy saying about 0.0 mining being safer, its quite simple, any hulkageddon guy caught outside of highsec is usually hulled in short order..  can't imagine their brave enough to venture outside of high sec for any length of time.. too much chance of 'real pvp' occuring image

Just going to call you out on this because I am bored and just because, heres some of the people from the top of the Hulkageddon rankings,

    http://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=434877&view=kills

Not much high sec killing there......

    http://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=68754

    or there.........

    http://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=638296

    or even here...........

    http://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=85563

weee hang on....... damn nope not here either........

I could carry on with the list all day but I think you get the idea, most people who take part in Hulkageddon actually come from low sec or 0.0 and do it for a laugh.

Here's the Hulkageddon billboard for anyone who might enjoy laughing at the misfortunes of scrub miners from high sec:-

    lol.
It never ceases to amaze me how people try to feel morally superior in a computer game by picking the worst possible rationalization.

Hint: The people ganking others in highsec currently know the mechanics and most likely will be able to grind back their sec status in lowsec or 0.0. If they did not have this ability, they'd probably not ruin their secstatus that much.

In past events, there have been plenty of "tears" posted for people to chuckle at. So this time they are actually giving prizes. Far as I can see nothing has really changed except the addition of the prizes. Sure, that might make for a bit more provocation, but really, it was all there to begin with anyhow. Just seems like a non-issue to complain about in the whole event.

What kind of verbal griefing can a pirate possibly say to a relatively unarmed victim that will make the pirate seem anything but completely stupid?

Who playing this game doesn't know that an industrial vessel equiped for industry is no match for a warship?

On a side note, I've found that this event seems to have less tears than the last events.

There were always prizes. That's what the event is.

    Its got to be asked, as Ive never understood this;

Why would you post on MMORPG about a game you obviously play a lot and like? Whats wrong with EVE's forums, or your own Corps forums? Why here?

This is always the last place I posted once I was actually playing an mmo. I only ever came here to find out about new games or to look or a different one.

You KNOW the community here is packed to the brim with Trolls and Flamers. The only place for a question like that is in a mail to CCP. Anywhere else is a waste of time. It could be argued the mail to CCP would be a waste as well. In which case, go back to playing and get on with things.

I didn't realize there were always prizes specifically for the "tears" part. I was aware of the prizes for other "achievements" and such. I probably just overlooked it in the past.
