It wouldn't work in a game like AoC with the present gear drop rates. Full loot requires proper resources and crafting system which support gear loss.
Yup. It would also need magic system consumables otherwise there would be little reason to play anything but a naked mage.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
This server is going to be PvP token loot (as in when you die you don't actually lose anything), no guards so people can just harass you talking to NPC (this would actually be a great thing if there was full player loot), there will still be fast travel/teleports. And there will still be minigame PvP that gives PvP rewards...
They are just using this as a way to make the server what AoC should have been, they don't actually want to make an 'old-school' server.
Personally I don't want any kind of PvP points, then PvP is about those points and not about 'Blood and Glory', but I can live with them. I don't want teleports anywhere but between major cities, but I can live with them to each zone (but not to PvE spots), what I can't deal with is minigames that give points...that is completely deal breaking for me, I MIGHT be able to live with minigames if they were for fun, but I will not go anywhere near this server if there are minigames with rewards.
We haven't decided on the details here, and it probably won’t be looting from a players equipped inventory, but may include some combination of items from their regular inventory and ‘generated’ loot.
Just like old times - Exciting/thrilling titles.. little delivery.

Wow, another one of the amazing "new" features that they said would be there at launch rears its head. What was it called then, "blood money" or something? Regardless, it is a pretty corny idea that will bring no new meaning to an aimless pvp game.
Hey at least they have added most of the features printed on the launch day retail box.

I am still trying to figure out why the OP used FULL LOOT in the title.
This is a chance to say: "We listened to player feedback". A chance to say: "Instead of just content we also added a completely new ruleset". All done with an extremely reduced dev-team...
They may retain some of their loyal, but by now bored, PvE players for a few more months, rekindle interest in some of the PvP-players that left and on top of that maybe even attract some niche PvP'ers that feel bored with their current niche game.
AoC have come a long way and a "fresh start" server seems like a good idea. This ruleset does not appeal to me but at least they are trying something difefrent and I hope they will see some degree of success!
We dont need casuals in our games!!! Errm... Well we DO need casuals to fund and populate our games - But the games should be all about "hardcore" because: We dont need casuals in our games!!! (repeat ad infinitum)
hardcore means full loot no exceptions anything else is just a current pvp server. this all of sudden makes crafting very very viable. in fact make it like ever where not every item drops some break and are unusable
I would come back to AOC hands down if they had a full loot game.

Oh this will be a disaster. I played on a PvP AoC server for awhile, and almost every time I stepped outside of my spawn location, I was ganked.
Did funcom ever address the 3rd party hack/app that alot of people used on the pvp servers?
Aoc Buddy i think it was called?
I think this is going to be really cool in terms of letting the players decide
I don't think so.

I'm coming back to AoC just for this.
Seriously.
