Rifts - I can see these getting old failry quick.

I enjoyed my time playing tonight and hitting a lot of invasions and rifts, but after just 1 night I can easily see how this game system could get old real fast.  Many of the rifts I did tonight were pretty much identical based on whether it was a fire or life rift, or invasion for that matter.  And just the rift mechanic in general is pretty much the same thing with a few very mild differences here and there. 

I'm liking the game, but man, not sure how rift fighting will feel a month, 3, or 6 down the road.

Fact: All PvE aspects of MMORPGs get old very quickly. If you don't want something that get old quickly, then PvE MMORPGs are not your thing and you should try PvP focused MMORPGs, like EVE.

Agree. L?ke the quests, arena fights, battlegrounds, or the similar equivalents in Rift. Still Rift is a good improvement for WoW, but it's not about reinventing the genre for sure

Strange how single player games do so well...

 

50€ on front cost is too much for me, but will get my few months worth of enterteiment once it gets cheaper. MMO market has changed, those who play multiple game play a short time at a time, not years like before. I still think it's good value for most part.

Honestly I expected the same story as you , but am happily suprised how well the game plays and how hooked I gotten into min maxing souls , it almost feels like a beta game for me .

Trying to find a gimp build , I think the character specialisation can keep me hooked for a while.

The runes and planar essence are basically items .

Well the talent tree i find very interesting especially as rogue ( i hardly ever play a rogue in mmorpg)

But its the first rogue i really love , now my bladedancer /ranger / rift stalker ... just feels wierd

6/6/6 and its still not gimped LMAO ...

 

So basically I am really enjoying the min maxing of ablities and numbers .

Been a while since I found a MMO that allows gimping your toon .

What is wrong if new MMORPG gets old? In what time frame you expect it happen? 3 months is ok, 6 months good and year very good.

 

With the fact how many games there is out there I don't see any issues as long as game offers a few months of enjoyable experience. Rift is decently polished and not majorly bug ridden. Is there some kind of must for game to be played servelar years?

@OP.. After playing to characters to level 42 in all 7 beta sessions warden/shammy/sentinal....Riftstalker/RB/SAB and doing 99% of the quests for both factions up to 42,the game really does not change.

After doing IT to fae to dd-dm fc right up to kings breach and Runic Decent and more rifts than i can remember i can say from experiance that the game does not change.

 If anyone who levels above 42 can tell me if it magically changes from the rail road linear path you started at level one i would be glad to know.

Never heard of  ulti-tabs web browsers? Also unlike a certain recently released failed MMORPGs, you can alt-tab in Rift.

Yeah yeah, I've heard that before, and the only thing I can say is you're not trying hard enough to convince us. Also Trion said there were only 2 types of rift in beta, there'd be more in retail.

 No no, some people will have interest long in games then others.....not sticking a real period on it.

I can emagine that people will get bored with it after just a fiew weeks (and thats fine by me).

I just find a bit strange how some people will buy almost every game that comes out and then just start "trashing" the game....why buy it then.

Lets face it.....the game realy isnt released yet and already the post enter that they are bored......why would you buy it (again its alowed but i just wonder why people do it).........the 6 beta round wer not boring? (but oh lets still buy it??? must be me)

again i am NOT attacking the OP here.....i just find it a bit strange that when people get enough beta testing and decide to buy it (any reason) and after 1 day on the live servers people are bored?

Its just something i dont understand.....if i got bored after one day of beta then i dont buy....simple.

What gaming experience does ever change ? the raids in WoW the farm grind in EVE , the chatting drama ...

In the end its all the same just a slightly different , even people are the same , just a slightly little different .

You enjoy a game or you hate a game , there is nothing to achieve but meeting the correct people in a MMORPG .

When you get tired of people , then you need to look for another substitute .

But again your opnion is your own , but saying you achieve something in beta , is all fine and well .

But you killed the game for yourself by playing so intensively , you are overburned wait for the next MMORPG to come out.

SWTOR is around may , GW is 2012 and tera should be in fall .

If they can´t please you , then stick with WoW daily boring grind and weekly raid , some people don´t want anything new.

NEW is same as dangerous .

RIFT is a well put togther game but it's boring as hell and really is just a linear railroad up to level 42,if anything changes after that then you be sure to let me know.

A totally not polished product with a experiemental combat systems full of flaws.

 

I tried even CO , but honestly who said you haven´t played wow , your moans give you away as a wow player.

Nobody but wow players want to achieve and boast about something .

Thats simply it , its all boasting and bluffing while doing the daily grind in any mmorpg .

 

Sorry game is linear , but so is almost any mmorpg I played , the question is are you having fun while playing.

If you don´t have fun while playing then stop , if you need confirmation that the game stinks .

Then sure the game stinks if you look hard and deep at it .

But any game will stink when you start to look hard and deep at it .

Sorry if earthsiege was none pvp , I would have loved it but its not worth my hassle .

Hope they won´t do the same with fallout online .

See my kind of fun , happy raiding the same instances don´t worry end of march new raid instances .......

Same nerf on the old one , and achievements will stay !!!

Rifts seem to be a love them or hate them relationship.  Some folks feel they are the 2nd coming of gaming and what really sets Rift apart from the rest, and others say they're nothing more than WAR public quest revisted.

I suspect the truth falls somewhere between the two extremes depending on player expectations.
