Absolutely not, it's been slowly growing for a while.
This is to celebrate their 2nd anniversary of running live. Great deal for a great game however.
Maybe you should wait a little, we're not getting new character animations and models until Q2 with the expansion.

The link above provides the new model looks, we've seen their motion capture studio which is pretty cool too.
I am afraid he means more then just mere animations and graphics. He complains what I picked on for a long time: the movement and combat mechanics. The legendary sprinting in circles and changing direction of your run by 180 with ease WHILE you side step or backstep like your are at least 80 years old. He probably hoped for something closer to Mount and Blade. I just wish we could ( in PvP and PvE )dodge backward and side step incoming melee attacks with some timing and use parry as a counter attack opener. The sad thing is it won't happened. It seems that AV actually red my posts about it on the official forums and add a while ago double tap dodge, but the actual implementation of that ability is just...terrible.
No the game doesn't have a realistic combat system nor does it rip off mount and blades combat.
The games combat is very good, melee is about your movement patterns and trying to stick on people when they try to disengage. It takes a heck of a lot of skill to master and truely rewards player skill. You parry when you need, switch to sword and shield when you need, get your distance right so you can get them with whirlwinds when they try to normal spin and so much more.
Mount and blade system = you'd get rolled by continuous aoes.
Medicore combat system? I'd kindly ask you to go die, it's probably the best combat system currently in MMOs.
If you have a trial account which option is available? The 9.99 for one month or the 25 for 3 months?

Trial accounts have to be upgraded to the full game by buying the client (9.99) you'd also get a months worth of game time. After you have the client you can purchase the 3 months game time deal for 25.
Got the email this morning, probably going to pick up it up later tonight or tomorrow. I have had bad experiences with Darkfall, but hey, the upcoming changes look pretty nice and it's freaking 10 bucks. Been looking for another game to go along with Xsyon, maybe I can get all my pvp fix in Darkfall, and get my building fix in Xsyon

its 44 days for 9.95 if you start the 14 day trial now, but you cant buy it before trial ends and you have time till 31st. 31-14..
I don't see how he's complaining about the cost so much as just stating a fact. You're arguing perspective on monetary value which is purely your opinion.

There are better F2P games out there why the hell would I care about this vaporware, might be better then it was at launch but even if all exploits, hacking and lack of content were fixed youd still have a game which looked like it was developed after Hexxen or might of magic VII or something, its ugly beyond belief but hey its a sandbox eh.
Constant AoEs ? I have no idea what you are talking about. M&B combat is far superior to DF, probably because it is actually not a MMO and doesn't have such performence constraints.
I think you have mistaken the titles there, DF is full of AoEs, WoF and acid rain is just recent examples. Multiple whirlwinds and nukes used to be a problem as well, I believe they actually did something about it.
Parry ? Sword and shield ? As long I haven't missed some kind of important patch after adding disable skill it is even less useful. Except that it has too small damage output, swing arc and range to actually be used as primary play style.
I am not saying combat isn't fun. It is just silly that it is easier to dodge incoming swing or arrow by sprint circling then actually side stepping it. It can't be that hard to make movement faster in that directions and add monumentum to your movement while you swing a weapon.
Have you ever seen anyone using double tap dodge they added after now years of whining ? I used it only in pve where you can "exploit" it a bit to melee mobs without being hit by their melee. It just too clunky to use in pvp as it prevents you from continuing smooth movement.
I want to be able to parry incoming blow and have a small time window to counter which my enemy will be able to either dodge by side, back stepping or parry as well if I am too slow with the counter. I suppose AV just can't deliever it.
Technically there is a difference becuase you need 2 things to play.
1) the client
+
2) the subscription
If you just posess the client you can't play on the server. You must obtain a subscription.
This happens if you not renew your sub. However DF client offers had always a playtime attached to them in which you didn't have to explicit sub to any sub method. (month, 3 month, 6 month etc)
After bying such a client you don't have control on this time, it has been given to you and you can choose after this time has run out if you subscribe. Thats why we call it "free time"...
It didn't occur yet and probably never will but theoretically there could be offers (for example from 3 party stores) which sells only the client and you would need to buy a sub from Aventurine.

EVE Online did this years ago. Is that a dead game? Hell, WoW did it at the release of that last expansion. WoW is a dead game too by your logic.

Only playing this game again if they add a pve server... I think it would be a good business move for them but then all the other servers and the hardcore pvpers would probably drop dead.
Never heard of different style server in a sandbox MMORPG can only happen with themeparks.

This games growing? From what, 600 in game active players to 800? Their more people in regular non-mmo games than this.
When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?

It is a niche mmo and yes, it is growing.

It's a highly pvp centric sandbox mmo, asking for a pve server is like asking for a full loot pvp server for Lotro.
