Saying that BSG Online is "shallow", "weak gameplay" etc etc, has little to do with the limitations of the very recent "cloud MMO" tech, it's a more direct result of the developing company and it's publisher which is very well known for their CASUAL games.
Infact, i'm pretty sure that id they had done it on a regular client the results wouldn't be far different, except maybe for a slight graph quality.
Also keep in mind that games which implement new technologies are mostly in 'inexplored lands' as they need to break the way instead of following a road already journey'ed by all.
Personally and from a purelly Technological point of view, i'm quite impressed my BSG's quality, since i surelly didn't expected as much from a Browser MMO.
Since these are the beguinners of "Cloud MMOs", i'm sure that other companies will improve the tech and remove/lessen some inerent limitations that are still present at this time.
Case in point, Everquest was not much too look at the time of their launch and was mostly run by /slash commands... but they were ground breaking and many companies followed, using and improving the design concepts over time that reached current WoW stuff.
"Cloud MMOs" have the same possibility, they just need a "serious" company to tackle it and many ppl will break out from they narrow mindset.
Another example, Star Trek Online (by Cryptic) is turning into a Polished T**d but we all know it's shallowness and cra*tastickness isn't related to the Client used but rather from the limitations from the company developing it.
