RIFT vetoed in some media?

ZzadZzad Member UncommonPosts: 1,401

Hello all!!

I live in Europe,in Spain.... I have noticed that some magazines like "Micromania" (most popular in Spain) and some webs like Hobbynews or Meristation haven´t even comment the launch of Rift in Europe... and let me tell you it  is as popular here as in other countries... and we have a HUGE fanbase and guilds in all auropean servers...

So...why is this?? Looks like some inner interests or payed favor towards other companies.... is like they are trying to make the game pass unnoticed.....

Are really companies like Blizzard doing use of their power to vetoed (censor) Rift in magazines and webs??

It looks like.......

They must be really scared, but ffs it is a real turn off to see those so called pro-games webs and magazines doing it so.

SAD.

Not being from Europe or ever hearing of thoes sites you mention I would still be willing to bet they are "Pay to reveiw" sites. With RIFT being so popular Trion might not want to blow money on such fake sites.

Again pure conjecture on my part.

It is a fanbased movement plain and simple. Plenty of sites were severely hositle to a game

willing to take a direct shot at "WoW's" genre.

Notice most companies have avoided it an just accepted Blizzard as king? I doubt there is some

conspiracy and it has obviously gotten a buzz in EU. Notice how extremely fast they had to add

    EU servers?

It's most likely that they ran out on their marketing budget in NA/Europe and hope that the news trickles down...

I'd say in time you will see more or in the future, but ftm they've are probably done with their budget.

It seems like they are investing more then they planned. The game has obviously taken off more then even they expected. I mean the server messages tell the story that more people from open Beta sub'd then even they expected.

There advertising has become even more heavy. I think on www.wowohead.com it links directly to a Rift add picture now.

I'm going to go with my old stand by and blame it all on Herman Van Rompuy, he has to be useful for something, so why not a catchall whipping boy.

    A. Regardless of how you feel about it. Blizzard is king. It doesn't require anyone to accept it.

    B. Really? Severely hostile just because Trion was willing to make a game similar to WoW?  Ok, lol.

    well, it happens.

I was looking for some GW2 info in biggest Polish gaming magazine, and guess what? All I found was some small box with general idea of the game. While whenever Diablo 3 or something announces a new class, they get a three-four page preview...

I thought that was reserved for Uwe Boll.

Uwe Boll is great, well atleast his attitude is. You just take him way too serious, same goes with his movies, watch them for what they are, not what you expect them to be. You might even start to enjoy some.

Postal was a great movie, give it a try.

I'm having trouble buying the conspiracy theory.

Uwe Bowell is entertaining at least.  You know he boxed a bunch of internet geeks that talked smack about him a couple years ago?  Was pretty funny.

It´s not about conspiracy.... it is about some companies getting favours or just paying for some publishers to jut talk about their game and not other.... it´s easy and no science fiction.

lol you crack me up with the you vs the world bit. Have you honestly convinced yourself that Rift is the first game to take a shot at wow?

I think it would probably be what someone stated earlier. Probably pay 2 review and they're not feeling that. Then again, maybe they are taking their time to get a good review in, who knows.

So let me get this straight, you are posting your anti-Rift conspiracy theories on a website that has had nothing but positive feature articles on Rift, while Trion funded Rift banner ads reside on the top, left, right, and bottom of almost every webpage you view on their site?

    LOL

GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind"
    1) Cash->Gems->Gold->Influence->WvWvWBoosts = PAY2WIN
    2) Mystic Chests = Crass in-game cash shop advertisements

Blizzard is king of what?  King of manipulating fanboys into buying crappy games and $25 starry ponies?

Obviously you didn´t read my post or you did not understand it... maybe it´s because english is not my first language and i don´t express well....

I am not posting an anti-Rift post since i am playing Rift since betas and i am in love with the game....

All i am saying is that i have noticed that some magazines and websites in Europe (Spain) didn´t even write a post on Rift´s launch...which pisses me off.

Why troll? A king doesn't have to be good in order to rule over morons.

I believe he is saying that the #1 most played game would be the "king" as in it wins the popularity contest, which it does.

Edit:  I really doubt that Blizz or ANYONE is paying any companys to NOT Talk about Rift, more likely they're just not being payed TO talk about Rift.  The game just came out and it will probably take a while for main stream media to recognize it.

Actually you missed my point.  I was simply pointing out the irony of what you were saying and where you were saying it.  I quite understood you were pro-Rift.  Maybe I should have reworded my response as:

So let me get this straight, you are posting your "some magazines and websites are anti-Rift" conspiracy theories on a website (this website) that has had nothing but positive feature articles on Rift, meanwhile Trion funded Rift banner ads reside on the top, left, right, and bottom of almost every webpage you view on this site?

    LOL

Don't you see the irony of this?

I'm not here to bash this website or the game actually.  Personally I think this website is fantastic but I'm not blind to the inherent conflicts of interest to their advertising business model.  And I think Rift would be a great game if I had never played an MMO before.  I just thought your conspiracy theory was pretty hilarious in juxtaposition of where you were posting it...

Or it may be that those sites don't care to comment on one of the most refined WoW clones?
