Glad to see the company working hard on their product Doesn't say what will be included with the major content update but to me this is great news! I've stated to people many times that Trio has a great base to work with, and can do so much more with it!

Thx for the info.
Shame the trolling of this game won't cease, but then neither will my enjoyment of this game.
Luckily, no troll is powerful enough to talk you into believing you don't enjoy something that you actually do... yet!

I can't play this game any time soon but I will!!!!
After reading all the posts it sounds good. The fact i can play a melee class with a pet is awesome. I just ignore all the self righteous posts by people with "better ideas" but are failing out of school.....
It is good they are planning for a future content patch. Hopefully, we either get reliable internet out here soon so I can join.
I always take these "major content updates" soon after release with a grain of salt. What companies like to impress with is for the most part stuff that hasn't made it into the retail version, but was close to be finished anyway.
Folks usually cheer the devs for being "soo busy and not lazy!!" after release, while after the initial update sometimes nothing gets released for say a year or so.
So i never hail a company for working hard unless the 2nd content update follows as quick.
So posting that Trion is "..already looking to add in Major Content update" when they have just posted to say that they will do it, sometimes "soon", without any specific is not trolling?
It works both ways you know...
Some people try to talk you into buying something you might not enjoy and some people try to talk you into not buying something you might enjoy. I would say the former is worse as you may end up losing money where as the latter one you lose nothing.
My gaming blog
well the second content could have been part have retail too??
Look Jack, they decided to roll out on schedule for the launch but wanted to do further testing on the 2nd and subsiquent raid instances prior to putting them out. So instead of dumping unfinished and/or untested content out on the public they took the route of caution and decided to do the testing they intended to make sure it worked as intended prior to pushing it out. Thats what they have planned for this first content update. {mod edit}

Normally I do also, but with this company I actually believe they'll be true to their word after playing Rift. There hasn't been a company in the last 7 years that has released a game that was finished at launch - until now.
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.
uhhh actually

DUNGEONS AND RAIDS
* Water, Life, Death, and Air Raid Rifts are now available.
That is 3 new 10 man raids.
Raiding is not my idea of content, let alone end game content, so they better come out with something a lot better than raids if they want to keep me as a customer or I'll move on to games like SWTOR and never look back.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
And we found a winner for the person with the most depressing point of view.
This post was in no way intended to try to get someone who had no interest in the game to raise a brow, just for those who haven't had a chance to see the info. Nothing more nothing less, do not read into my post as anything other than trying to pass information along to those already playing the game.
Yeah most companies put the stuff in which "didn't make it in retail release" but if you have a chance to read what they are actually putting in the patch notes it is a good update.

Hmm didn't guilds zip thru MC when it first came out forcing blizzard to essentially break the bosses so they re tune the content?
Thank you for the link. I'm actually curious to see what the patch will offer. It seems huge. I'm not sure if I will wait until release or actually try the alpha. I always like to see things as a suprise and not spoil it for myself. Hmmmm..
ArenaNet did with Guild Wars, and they continued to do so every 6 months or so
No, wether you want to consider it an MMO is your opinion, but I'm just throwing it out there. It was still an amazing game, and it was extremely polished and has loads of content.
MC was mostly broken at release which made a lot of it hard to do early and some of it impossible.

DUNGEONS AND RAIDS
* Water, Life, Death, and Air Raid Rifts are now available.

That's four new 10 man Raids. I hope they setup some 5 man Rifts that you can walk through instead of just calling down.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
it'd be nice if they could improve the Queue wait as well. what good is content if you can't get ingame - 2hr queue here atm.
This is what I kind of predicted in some of the earlier threads about rift. I myself decided not to play it for various reasons, however, the one thing I noted during beta is that game is "finished" in the sense of what they have works and no major bugs or issues that I could see. The result of this is the fact that post release they can concentrate on adding content to flesh out the game rather than spending the first three months just doing bug fixes and hotpatches.
The complainers will always complain about stupid stuff but the fact is Trion is on the right path with this game for the audience they are trying to appeal to...it just so happens I am not in that audience and I am still waiting for a game that will appeal to me.
Doesn't surprise me, but I am happy. Trion seems start enough to know what they're doing. Looking forward to what the content will hold. As for the people that are already 50 and will, possibly...possibly, bitch in a month how there is no content: get a life, get some sun, and don't bitch that the game is small because it isn't....you just have no life
more battlefronts and more rift variations please, only then I would buy it
yeah this is very true. There are some guilds right now practically living in Rift doing end game.
Download the Alpha and read the patchnotes. It's mostly bugfixes.
Maybe it's due to having played MMOs since 1999 and not a single one has tried to do something other than raiding for end game. Maybe it's also due to Trion always talking about more raids and no mention of anything else for end game.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Hmm City of heroes did not have loot chase or raids, when it was released and hence it was never able to retain its subscribers.
Like it or not people want end game/raids what ever you want to call it other wise they are going to abandon once they ding to max level.
Added: Same is true even with Guild wars which they are apparently rectifying with GW2.
How much more are you looking for? currently there is 4 different WFs which i think is adequate enough. Too many can dilute the players and you will end up qing for the easiest one.
Guildwars have a lot of players still, I would say there is as many now as when I started 5 years ago... And GW2 will not have raiding. It will have huge scaleable open events anyone can join but that is very different from raids. Besides, it will have no raid gear anyways and that is the main reason most people raid.
Raiding can be fun if well done but there are other possible options to raids.
What a game need is good endgame content, the exact type of it isn't that immportant even though a game with more types of endgame have the potential to get more players.
CoHs problem was a lot more than no raiding. The quests were not that well written and the city felt 2 dimensional.
But really, how many of the MMO players regurly raid? 10? Maybe even 15% but it sure isn't more.
