That entire post sounds like you are trying to convince other people to start playing rift. I'm sure that alone was enough but the link to there site just made it look even more like you were trying to get people to switch games.

Or they might have a program that does keyword searches on the forums for website links and automatically flags those posts as either "spam" or brings them to the mods attention.
It's more likely some jackhole whined fast. I doubt Blizzard cares that much about their forums, usually the cry babies and the heavy handed mods take care of things of that nature faster than HAL could.

Yep...happened to me in reply to a post that someone else made - just mentioned my dis-satisfaction with Cataclysm and said I had canceled my Wow account and went over to Rift. This was my original post:

Here's a multi-million dollar company releasing an expansion calling it content when it's mostly just a re-do of the old stuff with some sprinkles of re-packaged BG's and the same ol same ole Raid for gear blah blah blah.
After trying Rift http://www.riftgame.com/en/ since launch day last week I quickly cancelled my Wow account. This game is not just a Wow clone like I've heard so many people say but rather a blend of many MMo's just done much better.
Graphics and atmosphere of the game are stunning...the Rifts are basically open world raid content that can happen anytime, anywhere and can be joined by anyone just be clicking on "Join Public Group".
Pure fun and smooth as silk gameplay with so much potential. Servers atm are all med to high with some actually full and the public Rift/Raids are sometimes 60+ with NO LAG...NONE. No bugs etc etc.
Blizzard will have to earn my money in the future because right now they're just plain fat and lazy.

Blizzard is a buisness and any buisness will not tolerate somebody trying to cause some of their customers to leave and go over to another brand etc... By adding what you did you were providing a way for others to possibly leave wow for another game.I am sure Rift would do the same if it were reversed.Now,That being said I agree with you on your reasons for leaving WoW and I would probably be there with you if I had the Hardware to run it,but I do not so for now I am sticking with WoW and see what happens now that they have a decent competiter.

After shopping www.newegg.com the first time, and for years since, I quickly deleted Geek Squad from Speed Dial on my cell phone and home phone. Their service is a joke and they've no idea what is going on. They'll imply anything to make the purchase and often I find myself explaining to them why something won't work.
Interface and availability of Newegg is amazing...any time I want virtually any product, I simply type a keyword in Newegg's search, and bam, I'm there.
Beautiful Interface and reliable prices with quick resolution to any problem I might have. Sure I have to call them but I feel like their tech support knows more about their job than I do. And I can shop in my underwear.

Totally agree with the OP. I had a similar experience recently. I went to Pizza Street during lunchtime and just mentioned CiCi's...BANNED. Here's how it went down:

Infractions for advertising other games is common on official forums even if it is unintentional. I think the ban is a bit much, but your situation is a bit out of the ordinary, since you have cancelled your subscription status.

Overall, I agree with everything you wrote. I played Cata for a very limited time until I got extremly bored. I couldnt handle it. When I can to RIFT it was like a deep breath. I didn't feel the need to log out after two minutes and I felt less constrained. Shoot.. WoW gives me anxiety! Cant handle that game..

That's why I chose the example. Ever watched a Best Buy (or Circuit City--they were no better), geek squad badge on their shirt, fumble with a display pc that someone has screwed up and then finally just ask if you can fix it for them?
