Already getting fake emails for Rift

KyarraKyarra Member UncommonPosts: 789

I have 2 email accounts and I did not buy this game, but watch out, the hackers are already trying to steal your account. The mail I got was saying my password reset was successful and looked pretty real (I noticed it was not sent by RIFT though). Yesterday, alone I got 8 WoW fake emails. Will they ever stop?

I don´t even have active my WoW account anymore since 7 months ago and i still get around 3-5 fake mails from "blizzard" everyday...

I just dont even open them. Just delete. Sometimes just to make sure everything is allright i just log into my battle net account to check everything is working right, but never ever open an e-mail and click any link.

I hope hackers will notice some day that they won´t have bussines at Rift, since money is not that valuable in the game, most of the equipment you get it by "planarite" a token given as reward by playing... and it is not tradeable so...

    Smart move by Trion. :D

Ahh the beauty of a gmail account, that auto detects fake emails and they're immediately moved to the spam folder, though on occassion a gold seller site may leak through but after you report it as spam once it never gets through again.    And yeah I still get a ton of WoW spam regarding accounts I don't even own and for awhile it was US WoW, then recently they switched saying my EU account was hacked or requires a password change...ROFL

Thankfully I havn't been hit with anything for Rift, but I don't have an account I activated yet.

The genuine Blizzard account email correspondant was flagged as spam by gmail, so the system is not withou its issues. Luckily, I was looking at everything sent to me at the time and noticed that they've copied in their email response my complete request as I had posted it in their browser based customer support system. That's how I knew the email was genuine.

And that is why when I see the referral links that some  of the folks have been posting in this site the past few days for rift fan site, you don't go to them.

I have not gotten any fake rift emails yet, but I get at least 3 or 4 won emails per day.  I got one this morning in German, advertising a 2 man ride, I had to run it though google translator to get what they were saying.  LoL. Ran it though spamcop and sure enough it was identified as coming from china.

Just be careful what you click on, I have heard some folks have already been hacked, but that's due to the fake fan website that are mining those accounts.
