The Server Status thread is my evidence, and I predict it might see some heavy moderation from now on. The thread has the facts in it, and the facts are that it crashed NINE times on Sunday. That is not opinion, it is not my feelings on the matter, it's just a fact.
Do you deny it crashed nine times?
Given that many crashes in one day, and that not being unusual at all for the server, that you NEVER crash is a statistical improbability. Improbable to the point of not credible without evidence. I told you how you could easily prove your claim, and you still refuse - which is just further evidence that your claim is without foundation. I didn't make the claim remember so I don't have to prove anything. You made the claim, now prove it.
Now that the FACTS are clear (NINE crashes in one day) would you care to rethink the tone of your last paragraph?
I really loved the concept of this game. I love the crafting and gathering and actually wanted to do it. I loved the realism that it attempted, the housing, ect. However, it just didn't preform. IDK if its 9 crashes a day, or 5 or 4 but the fact remains that any of these numbers are too much.
But I could put up with it tbh.
Then you add in the AI, which is just stupid most of the time. When it works right, it's decent... at best. But a lot of the times you just hit mobs that don't move or react. Or they will react crazily, standing on top of you, ect. And when it works, like the Risars for example, just sit their and take it in the face and swing randomly, no tactic or defense. Even this is okay for me...
But here is my main issue... there is absolutely no trade or social tools, and the prediction system is still horrible in pvp. Fix these two things, and I'm a costomer. But what is their upcoming patch about? Adding some new moutn system with unique mount blah blah blah... complete waste. Your AI sucks, at least fix it before you add to it. Or better yet... fix more important issues.
Sometimes you need to sacrifice realism for playability. What difference does having a form of global chat, or at least regional chat make if everyone who plays the damn game sits on skype and IRC anyway? Why no auction house, or at least turn the different table/stalls next to npc vendors into player vendors. You go up to a table, it creates a list of people selling at the stall, click one, and it shows his goods.
Increased guild ui. Have a single guild poster up around town/ in the bank where you can click it to apply. You click and can browse guild ads. When you apply, it sends a message to a ranking member who can accept/reject. The poster would include a description, ect. In addition to a better chat ui in general.
I can go on all day, but i'll stop. My point is, a new player should be able to come into the game, walk into to town and have access to an economy, access to the guild systems, have a sociable environment, and a working movement/prediction system. Really, these are the damn essentials of an mmo if you think about it, yet they want to introduce an allegedly "revoultionary" mount system.
I generally dont' comment in threads that end up focusing on server down time, since the server is clearly not as stable as it should be. That being said, I'll put in my 2 cent this time.
On Sunday the server did go down 8 or 9 times. I say 8 or 9 since it's hard to say if this should count...

However when you shift from saying "it crashed 9 times on sunday " to "The server crashes 9+ times in a day and you miss all of them?" it does sound like you mean 9+times a day every day.
Looking over the past week instead of just one day would give a better idea of overall server stability, so...
March 8- 3; March 9th-2;March 10th-1;March 11th-3;March 12th-2; March 13th-9; March 14th-2. Average- 3.14 (or exactly 3 if we throw out "down?")
An average of 3 times a day is certainly worse than it should be, but it is better than some would like to claim.
I never said it crashed 9 times per day every day. Sometimes it's actually worse than that, usually it's slightly better.
Don't put words into other poster's mouths, terrible form and against forum rules.
On the issue, I gave Ruellis and the others a simple test to prove their claim. They refuse to do so, and in my mind that means they are not that sure their claim would be proven by such a test. If you are so sure, run the test.
Perhaps you would do the test instead Osmunda? Though at least you do not claim that you never crash, unlike Ruellis, so it would be moot.

All I can say is that I agreed to meet another player who is a fan of the game (Lahuzer) in game a week ago. I am not kidding (and it is documented in these forums) that a few seconds after we met. The server crashed and was down for over an hour. So yeah, that was me giving someone a chance to prove the servers were "fixed" and then demonstrating it wasn't. That was also either the last time I logged in or one of the last times. My trial is over. Maybe if the game is still around in 6 months I will do another trial and see what has improved but never again will I believe that thngs magically get fixed.

Lets list all the crash reports in the "Official Status thread" in the last two days.
12th March 2011, 19:17: "Since nobody posted: It's up for a long while again."
13th March 2011, 03:02: "Offline mode"

13th March 2011, 18:18: "Oooh! I hear the sounds of the etherworld and a missing loot bad in your future. Happened to me yesterday during the offline mode. I had just smacked a wolf in the face when it happened."
13th March 2011, 18:23: "phew im still alive btw, server is up"
13th March 2011, 19:36: "down?"

13th March 2011, 21:42: "Not only the server is down, but the hamster too... sleeping !"
13th March 2011, 21:47: "Up again."
13th March 2011, 22:09: "Dammit, who the heck is fumbling on the server again? Down."
Osmunda has already said, 8 or 9 down's on Sunday or is he a rabid SV hater too? How many times do YOU think it went down on Sunday?
Seriously, step back and breathe a few times or you will do yourself a mischief. You've lost control enough to be edited by a mod, so just relax
As for your claim, the proof is simple. List your play times for the next week, and we compare that to the Status Thread in one weeks time. A simple, irrefutable method of testing your claim yet you refuse to do it. The reason is obvious - you know your claim would not stand up to scrutiny.
Though I guess there is one way you might be right, you log into MO for about 5 minutes per day and realise there is nothing to do and log out again. Is that it? According to your own thread on the official forums you can't play at night as it's too dark, even in the cities. Guess SV can't even code a few light sources in town haha.
So until you put your silly claim to the test, we can safely ignore it.
Ruellis is using a different time zone (Western European Time) than you and I (Central time). Sunday was unusually bad. If you shift the time frame 6 hours, there were NOT 8 or 9 times that the server went down
My best guess is he was not logged into the forums when he made the list. Of course if he was logged in, it would be even more different (one of the australian time zones)

"Always and never are not meant for men, you shall return again and again"
I learned long ago to avoid absolutes like "I never experience the server going down". I will instead say "I have rarely experienced the server going down". Arguing with absolutes means even one exception means you are wrong. A couple other words to avoid: "every", "zero".
I would not like to do your test. I play when I feel like playing (i.e. not on a schedule).
March 15th-1; March 7th-2 bringing the average down to 2.77
I was not trying to put words in your mouth. Rather, I was explaining that the way you phrased it could leave the impression you meant something different. (As shown by Ruellis's response)

Umm, no clue what you are going on about here.
I was using the MO board times (CET), not US times. On Sunday it went down 9 times in CET hours midnight --> midnight. So yeah, he's just wrong.
I am also not in the US on CST atm, just FYI.
EDIT: and the only person who took it the wrong way was someone denying the evidence from MO's own forum. I don't think it had anything to do with my phrasing
Does it really matter how many times it goes down in a day or even a week? The game launched last summer. Unannounced downtimes should be very few and far between, not as often as they are. The server being so unstable now should be unacceptable at this stage in the game's life.

Indeed. Most MMO gamers will be OK with 1-2 unannounced crashes a week, certainly not when its crashing 5+ times a day. Downtime for hotfix/patch/whatever is one thing, server offline because it crashed and there's nobody online to reboot it is completely different thing.
Something most MMO gamers won't fork out monthly subs for.

I'm not sure what's difficult about the concept but here goes...
If the server goes down 13th March 2011, 21:03 Central US time, it will be 14th March 2011, 03:03.Central European time (i.e. not Sunday).
Anyway, I redid the tally without logging in (so that I would get the times in CET) and the tally still comes out to 8 (or 9).
March 16th - 2; March 6th -4 (estimated, it was down for a while to patch the server) Average March 6th-16th 2.8 More than it should, less than some people would like to claim.

It depends on what you expect after this thread and youtube videos. Some have fun in MO but it is riddled with problems. Population isn't high and it's not exactly a completed game. It's sandbox light.
So after watchin some youtube clips and reading this thread, What more can i expect from MO? Downloading trial as we speak.
Bugs, server crashes, frusteration, and a flat-out awesome game hidden in the mess.
In all honesty, you might be better served to make a forum account on the game's official forum (if you haven't already) and ask there. You might be greeted with more people willing to hook you up in-game too
Expect dark nights and some jackasses in town trying to provoke you to strike first. (random tip: If it looks like you took damage (red bar on the screen, your character grunts), check the chat log at the bottom left... if it doesn't say you took damage, that means someone shoved you. do not hit them, or you'll be flagged aggressive.
Don't worry though, for every griefer there's a decent player who'll help you out. That, and a lot of people who aren't that nice but don't mess with new players (like me).

15th March 2011, 17:04: "Up and running."
(list taken 15th March 2011: 18:40)
So tell me how many "down" can you count? Or it is just A LOT and 9 is the biggest number you know,
Tell me why I cannot play more than 4 hours without crash? The probability is quite high.

It depends on what you expect after this thread and youtube videos. Some have fun in MO but it is riddled with problems. Population isn't high and it's not exactly a completed game. It's sandbox light.
As for your sig oO....... I have 4 kids :P
