Been playing MMORPG's since early  UO (97) . From what I've seen so far, Rift is almost perfect   (needs player housing).

I have also been playing MMO's since UO (1998) and I am loving Rift also. There is so much freedom in character development an so many different things to do. I think I'll be playing it for a long time.

    Remember Old School Ultima Online

Good to hear. Hopefully this does not turn into a flame fest. How is end game treating you? I heard the Tier 2 stuff was pretty intense.

Rift needs: Player housing, item skin replacement (keep the look one of item but the stats of another), social clothes, "appearance tab" or clothing swap option, more varied starting areas and 1-20 (it's so boring doing the same quests over and over for every new character), more crafting options, guild bank, account shared bank, group member teleport/portal/summon. Probably a lot more.

It's a pretty ok linear themepark, but has a long way to go to being a world people want to stay in.

I haven't been playing MMOs since the early 90s, but I too am enjoying Rift. My girlfriend and I have been playing it for about 2-3 hours a night since the release and are really having a good time with it. A lot of thing from past MMOs keep it familiar and easy to pick up, and all of the new additions add to the fun. I always enjoy going into a new world to see what it has to offer, and when the world is as nice as this- it is just plain awesome fun. Hopefully it lasts for us because I haven't found fun like this in a while.

Yeah, i can honestly say im enjoying Rift, but there are some problems and setbacks that are keeping me from spending as much time as i want in game.

There is nothing to spend money on besides crafting, thats it, no vanity, no anything, the only vanity is from collecting sets and hoarding coins.

The armor is horrid to look at, i went into the city and was checking out the higher level stuff, and im sorry, but there is nothing "awesome" about any of it.

It all just seems like were leveling and gearing to spend hours and hours in raids, and i guess im planning on taking my sweet sweet time to get max level, since i know for a fact its not a hard thing to do.

Rifts doing everything right so far, they just need to tweek a couple things, fire their armor designer, and give us some housing or something of that sory that we can blow all of our money on.

    Get over it already.

I have been having a great time playing Rift. The game launched with plenty of content and polish, and I have faith that Trion will be fixing, refining, tweaking and adding to the game.  As much as I love Rift, there are things I hope to see fast tracked by the devs, such as getting a guild bank in place. image

It needs eq2 housing that'd be awesome.

For the poster above me you do know there are armor dyes/roles/multiple mounts/ etc?

  • eowetheoweth Member Posts: 273

Can't speak about the Guardian side, but Meridian has a mount vendor to right as you enter the city. Think it only sells antelope type things. Horses are for sale somewhere, but I've not found where yet. I really wish I could trade in my collector's turtle for a horse. Either make it convertable or the coolest looking mount in the game, not the ugliest. :)

There are dyes on the right "ring" inside the city as well. There's no pre-purchase view available, which is unfortunate so you have to spend the 45g to see what "Dark Purple" would look like. Once you buy it right click on it and click on an item, it'll ask you Primary or Secondary so just click which one. Your character will than change the color to that and it'll ask you OK or CANCEL. Note that it doesn't indicate that it's previewing it for you, and you might not have even noticed the two first buttons were Primary and Secondary.

You can't even dye the whole armor, they give you two strips or two areas that you can dye to what you want it too look like, but you cant actually do the whole thing.

    Yeah, there are multiple mounts, but theres one version for low level and then another version of that mount with armor on pretty much for higher;

You can only buy so many horses so many times lol ;P

But i know, for a fact, Trion already knows about this, and will most likely fix it with their big god patch that every MMO does a couple months out of release, just to put the stamp of "play me!" on the game :]

Regarding mounts, I've seen a variation so far (a thing that looks like a combination of ape and bull) but it needs reputation with a high level faction. That's a 3rd variation of mount for each faction. I haven't explored everything yet.

Sure you can, you just need two dyes. Primary will dye most of the armor while the secondary one will dye the highlights/details.
