Meh -- 2013 -- world will already be in cataclysm so it will hardly matter.
If they have a playable game now -- it seems kind of odd that it would be two more years before release. I mean 2 years is an eternity,
As for farther away from the RPG part of mmorpg -- hmm.. Sounds like free realms or the star wars thing soe has. I mean if you remove the rpg elements and make it all minigames and achievements etc.
Somehow I do not think such a game would draw people away from the mainstream games. It might draw people away from places like pogo and get new people involved though -- which means it could run contemperaneously with wow and have both do fine.
First-Person mode is a big mistake. That alone is a major turnoff.
What they should do is create a unique SandBox-type game. That way they will dominate the entire MMO population with theme-park WoW and those who yearn for something new - titan.
First person is actually a lot more realistic. One of the main things that has caused rogues balance issues etc is the ability of people to see 360 degrees around themselves. That really is not realistic and it makes it require stealth etc for people to sneak up on people whereas people could use terrain and sneak up behind someone if people couldnt see behind them.
Nobody uses first person in a game generally simply BECAUSE 3rd person has those advantages of seeing behind yourself.
Centkin, First-person isn't more realistic. In real life we don't have tunnel vision and we instinctively rotate our heads to get a sense of our surroundings based on sights and sound. Normally a person's field of vision is between 180 and 270 degrees (some people are really good at using their periphial(sp?) vision), but they also turn their heads.
That's not to say that people are actively aware of their surroundings, but they have much easier access to being aware.

Err. Okay. So: relevance ?
First thing they did when they made Dragon Age 1, they made some levels with the engine they had back then (which was not what they used in the end) and showed it to the press.
It's the Halo MMO. It was in development a few agos ago, before it was scraped.
IT was also codenamed Titan.
Rumor has it that this will have a FP perspective.
Robert Kotick has stated numerous times that he wants stuff that will sell. Not risky ventures. Halo sells.
Blizzard DID say NEW property, HOWEVER, they never were specific on whether they meant new all together, or new to them. And Blizzard does often speak in riddles.

I really hope it's not halo, because I absolutely hate halo. It doesn't really make sense to me why Blizzard would be doing a halo game anyways.

Because they like money. And I could see them making a multiplatform MMO, to bring in tons of it.
I'd be very pleased to see the game not be an mmorpg. One Blizzard mmo is enough.

And will this mmo be based off Starcraft? seems like Blizzard haven't got any new stories outside their 3 main narrative worlds
apparently not, it will be a brand new IP of their own...lol yeah sure. Blizzard arent braindead , they should know they only gained mainstream success when they plaguiarized GW from A to Z.
so i kinda expect Titan to be some kind of WAR40K barely disguised as something else.if not, that would be too much for my poor heart...omg Blizzard not stealing GW's IP, judgement day is upon us!
Troll attempt me thinks...Considering wow was released before GW. Beta's for both started not even close to each other as WoW was in Beta long before GW was. Besides, if Blizzard "plaguiarized" GM from A to Z, don't you think there would have been a court case of somesort? And please dont play the "But they wouldnt bother cuz blizzard has bazillions of dollars!" card..
As for Titan being some sort of WH40K rip off, oh you mean like WAR looking like a barely disguised WoW clone?
GW = Games Workshop not Guild Wars. It's generally considered that the original Warcraft Orcs and Humans copied many of the ideas from GW's Warhammer tabletop games.
wow talk about total bull shit. As if Warhammer doesnt rip of Lord of the RIngs. WoW<--- as in post WC3 is more of a LoTR clone if anything lore wise.
Huh? LotR is nothing like either WarCraft or Warhammer. (And I am talking the worlds, not the games.) Both of the later games bring in a steampunk edge and mentality that you simply dont have in LotR. I am not saying that Wahammer didn't lift off the ideas of thier setting from somewhere else, they might have, but certainly not from LotR. On the other hand its obvious that by the time Blizzard created teh WarCraft world it was hardly and original idea.
Microsoft would NEVER allow a third party to make a Halo MMO. To say they would ignores Microsoft's MMO Track Record, the effort they went through to get the Halo rights, and the fact that involving a third party would just cost them money that they could have kept to themselves.

How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW?
As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.
