There is not a lot of end game content available at this time. No need to rush. Smell the roses along the way.
This statement is so false, either the reviewer hasn't reached end game or they are flat out lying. I hope it's the former.
I mean really? There's more end game content in Rift than other games that have been out for a few years. I mean tons more. This isn't a subjective issue. It's a straight up fact.
no, a review doesnt have to say a game is great at all, but when you only say negative things, its not generally a review. i dont even play the game, so no fanboy here at all, it was just a shit review
also just because they spawn a hundred mobs for invasions doesnt mean the game is action oriented. the combat is VERY slow, boring, and just plain not thought out. they focused on the class system, that was obvious, not combat.
Nice contradiction there. How exactly does it matter how positive or negative a review is? It makes no difference. A review is a review and if someone has nothing really all that positive (or negative) to say, are they supposed to lie and make stuff up so that it seems "fair" on both sides?
The funny thing is, the review wasn't even entirely negative in the first place - some people just choose to read it that way if it's not overly positive.
Well for the sake of the people that read this review and might get shaken for buying the game, my simple review is i bought it, i played it, im a "Hardcore" MMO gamer myself, and i like it, and im probable guna keep on playing it until SWTOR comes out, and who even knows i might just play Star wars for a while and come back, depends, but i can say sure of 1 think, im done with wow, after 6 years on and off, im finally done, thank you rift for letting me move on to another theme park game

I thought about it. In fairness, I’d say that’s a statement where you could accuse me of a gut reaction based on what “I” wanted endgame.
I can’t claim t2 dungeon progress. Yet it struck me as a harder content rehash that might wear if you’ve already leveled an alt too. Some mice are comfortable running the same old maze for bigger bits of cheese yet I wanted something new from Trion after the next gen ads.
Sure you can level a finger at several theme park MMOs for that but I can predict the day when you enter the dungeon and read “go go go” in chat coming sooner rather than later. So yeah, I’d tell someone not to rush and enjoy leveling right now while it’s still fresh.
I know they are working on the other features and this opinion could all change a few months from now.
They completely revamped a large percentage of abilities in the game in function and not just in values, changed how many points you get and revamped how all melee attacks scale in the final couple weeks of beta. I'm not surprised that you are running into balance issues. That is one area it is going to take them a while to get right since it wasn't a major focus in beta. You'll have to just give them some time on that part.
I find it odd you called it action oriented combat as well, this is slower paced than most games.
I am not going to be mean here, but his point "pvp is not fair balanced and is pve focused" is just whiney qq.
Any class in this game can drop any other class if you know what you are doing.
I call BS. They've clearly stated that there are "counters" to each soul . . .in other words, certain souls will absolutely destroy certain other souls. Take the VK for instance. It's specifically designed to take down magic users, and has been proven to be insanely effective against Mages. But that's how it's intended to work, they've said many times PvP is not balanced on 1v1 (meaning there very well could be huge "imbalances" between certain specific souls . . .but as stated, this is intended and IMO a good thing.)
Either you're being quite a fanboy, or you really just don't know the game well. And I remember you from the beta forums- I suspect the former is true. Don't deny that the devs have stated many times over that each soul has a counter soul. That's the very reason PvP is balanced around group vs. group, which has, again, been said many times.
Here is why expecting perfect class balance is pure insanity and why everyone hates Blizzard
for balancing around Arenas.
1. Class A is better then Class B
2. Nerf class A, now they are even, but class class C is better then A still, but even with class B
3. So nerf class C, but now class B is better then C, but even with A
Do you see how insane this could get in a multi class game and I only used 3 classes? This
game has like 32 with god knows how many class combos.
And yet here you go right back on your own words and acknowledge that PvP is indeed not balanced on 1v1, and furthermore that certain souls own other souls hands down given two players of equal skill.
Not a direct response, but I purchased the game two days ago, and have been playing MMOs for a long time. This is one of my top 5 easily, and potentially even on my top 3. I enjoyed WoW during Vanilla more, but this game is the freshest game I've played since then.
I described the game as action oriented in that it seems designed in such a way as to keep you involved in fighting something most of the time with few breaks. Invasion groups will come find you crafting at the forge or sitting at the tavern. They will wipe out your quest hubs and force you into grouping up to take it back. Low level mobs will lurk near the road behind a rock waiting to dismount your high level character when passing by. It keeps you reacting rather than always finding the fight at your leisure. I don’t define this as a good or bad quality.
I did not describe it as fast twitch based play in combat mechanics which is where the confusion seems to arise. It’s not. In actual combat, it depends on your calling but feels a just bit slow in pace. I always wanted to whack a foe harder and faster. I hesitate to compare it to another game.
Crafting is more useful for future alts than a current practicing character as quest rewards are good enough to make the items produced redundant. You end up producing reams of useless goods to salvage or vendor. Most skills are not difficult to level or acquire materials for. The most useful manufacturing skills are runebreaking and apothecary with perhaps a nod to artificer.
This paragraph tells me the OP did not really play the game. Rift is the first MMO I ever played where crafting as leveling up (at least Outfitter) actually allows you to produce goods that will be used by the crafter.
All in all, the review is pretty biased towards negativity, seems the title should be "My Bashing
Also need to take into account his MMO RPG account was just created today. Account age time along with negative post bashing reeks of dishonesty and ulterior motives.

O.o
K… I admit the ulterior motives bit makes me laugh. TY, for that. I now feel like I am part of the community. *doesn't know how to put a smiley here*
I have not bashed Rift, nor been negative of the game. You could acccuse me of being critical.
