The reason it will succeed

No matter what anyone says or does Guildwars is going to succceed? Why?

Simply for two reasons. One the gameplay is great. It may not be some peoples styles but it servers a majority of the population. Even majorities have numbers.

Two no monthly fee. I've asked around and I can not even count on my fingers and toes how many college students can not afford to play for monthly fees! However they can afford to buy a game and then play it every now and then. Of course this is only one instance but I am sure just like college students others will have the same mind set.

Guildwars is opening up into a new realm. They are hoping and counting on the fact that everyone without a credit is going to go....YES!!! Finally a game I can pick up and if they buy and don't like it then they don't have to play but Guildwars still makes their money. Either way the company is going to sky rocket and if the expansions are even half way decent more and more people are going to sign up and have an account even if they don't want to play it just to say they have one.

Areanet = Next Blizzard = Good company ::::30::

In terms of succes yes, but does that mean it is good?

By that logic, The sims, pokemon and counter-stirke would be the 3 best games of all time, because the are the 3 most sold/played games ever?

Do you really think your in a position to judge a games gameplay without having played all the way through the retail product?:) You might think it will be even more amazing when it gets out in stores, or you might think its a bunch of worthless repeititve missions and unbalanced gameplay!? We will just have to wait and see before concluding or putting out statements like that IMOimage

Like alll other things in the world I think it is an opinion about what good gameplay is.

Im not in a moment in doubt that GW will have problems. All games has.

But it was fun yes. For some. I know allot of people who thought it was crap, and people do not have to be fanboys to say that. Some people just think that this sort of gameplay is totally ill fated!

I like it though! Already got it pre ordered:)

so you are saying that counter-strike is not a good game. of coarse sims and pokemon arent but they are not for gamers. they are designed for 12 yr olds and non computer literate adults. Cs is one of the most competative online games ever. dont think that you can really talk bad about it

Haha. Sims and pokemon is not for gamers?

Please share, your view of what a "gamer" is.

The sims is in fact the most sold PC game of all time, with avarage userbase being women at avarage up in their late 20s or early 30s!

It is not the point - No of course I don't like CS! CS is mostly played by 12 year old leet talking racists:)

Its just a generation of anti social people who get a kick out of "Owning" other people online. I like old school shooters much better like quake:=)

But that is not the point.

The point is that popularity does not mean that a game is good. Is Britney Spears or Nsync good artists because they make salesrecords?

no. It is just an opinion, and just like with CS there are 10.000 times as many people who hates it.

CS and Britney Spears are both mainstream... serving the incompetent gamer:)

But then again, that is just also an opinion.

Allot of people feel that Britney Spears has done more for music than Mozart, and CS has done for gaming than Space Invaders.. opinions.. opinions..

Wait a minute there's no exploration in GW, I enjoy exploring, exploring is awsome I mean I can care less about hacking and slashing creature's all day if I can't walk to one end of the world to the other I was seriously thinking of buying this game I don't know now?

I hope it's not going to be that telepoter's are the only mean's of tranportation.

Evil will always triumph because good is dumb....

You can explore all you want, and quite frankly there's a lot of it to do. You just aren't FORCED to. Well if it's the first time though, you have to go the long way. But once you've been to a town or outpost, it becomes a kind of checkpoint that you can return to instantly anytime you want, should you not feel like spending an hour finding your way back.

You can walk from one end of the world to the other.

I have actually done so, well as much as was open in beta anyway, and in certain cases you will have to do so.

    Why?

There are certain trainers, and lots of static spawns that rock. Ever been to bonedragons? Takes a bit to get there. And they are not at all easy. There is some very good 'hunting'.

There are also quests from NPCs out in the wilderness. I have come across several, and I have played for maybe 8 days total.

GW is not without it's flaws. But at least mention some that are true.

We all know Guild Wars will succeed because it is Fun! That and it has something most Successful MMO's have, that is the addicting fun factor.

It is the excitment, that factor that makes you cheer when you reach level 30, that makes you laugh and shout when you get that item you quested to make, that makes you cry when you finnally beat that boss and make that new collection. It is a gamers Joy and the thing that makes MMO's like Ragnarok great.

Some say this is a factor that is opinion, but for the most part, most games have it, and as alot of reviews said themselved, you can have awesome graphics, cool weapons, beautiful scenery but without a gamers heart, it is nothing.

Everquest was not the best, but it was addicting because it had this, but Everquest2, entirely upgraded and awesome looking, is missing this factor.

SO, does GW have a gamers heart? I believe it does and will.
