While breezing through the new thief profession I noticed what seemed to be oriental architecture. I'll paste the picture, then put up a link in case you cant see it [ http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/thief/ ]. Just go to the bottom of the article and it should have a couple pictures.
I'm under the belief that this is definitely oriental architecture. Looks like we'll be seeing some more canthan themes in Guild Wars 2! Thus, you can assume some Elonian themes too? What do you think?

i do agree...The Canthan and Elonans (SP?) do have a place in DR. since the Emperor of Canthan palce fat anti-immigrationpolicies many are stuck here. and Palawa Joko has retaken Elona and no one wants to be there right now. so there are sections for both
Oh yes definetly, you should read this: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Movement_of_the_world
Refugees from Elona and Cantha, discovering themselves trapped by the rising wasters of Orr, struggled to maintain a native culture while integrating into Krytan society.
And, as cataclysms across the world displaced other humans, and Canthans and Elonians joined the wave of humanity fleeing to the new city of Divinity's Reach, they found a welcome home in the high bastion created to replace Lion's Arch when the floodwaters of Orr claimed it.
Those Canthans who did not agree with the emperor's dictates were given no choice but to leave their homeland, seeking refuge and sanctuary in Elona and Tyria.
The Sunspears spread across all three continents, attempting to fulfill their ancient purposes.
Further more Corsairs rebuilt Lion's Arch and as you know, corsairs are primarily Elonian. Lastly, Divinity's Reach is said to have different districts for different ethnic groups (Ascalonians, Canthans, Elonians and Krytans).
Cool. Well, as long as I don't have to hear any more voice overs by Shiro bad talky.

Finally, in our lore the assassin is very much a profession that has its root in Cantha and since we aren't visiting Cantha in the initial release of Guild Wars 2 we didn't want to draw any lore parallels between this new profession and the assassin.
So don't count on professions having a direct link with Cantha or Elona. Although both the Guardian and the Thief seem to be Krytanized versions of non-Krytan professions, the Paragon (as Anet stated before) and the Assassin (as stated above) respectively.
Haha. I loved Guild Wars but have to admit that there were some pretty terrible voice overs, especially in Factions.
I would'nt be so sure we have seen the last of shiro. I'm sure the first expansion for GW2 like GW1 will be Cantha. So who knows we might see him again
Top 3 MMO's PRE-CU SWG GW1 GW2
Worst 2 wow and Lotro Under standing stones it went woke
He's been killed 3 times now, 2 times by the players and 1 time by other heroes. Enough is enough.
Shiro was a pretty cool character but the voice acting left much to be desired. Hopefully, if we do get to visit Cantha at some point (and I hope we do, as it's one of my favorite continents in GW), ANet will find some decent voice talent for him.
That is surely a Canthan resturant. Fortune cookies anyone?
There have been some Canthans in Tyria for a long time now and that should affect the architecture. But knowing ANET they might also have some people working on the next campaign as well...
