Seeking for a game

Hi there all. I´m currently at a conflict point, about a month from now i´ve started playing DCU and already i´m bored with it. Thing is, i need a game where the trouble of grinding for stuff have a meaning. For instance the game Knight Online, although rather old now, had an excelent reason for why you needed to "grind", its war system, two or three days a week, there would be a war in the game were opposing factions would fight against each other for the possibility of invaiding each others land, the winner would invade the lossers. Those wars gave grinding a meaning.

Currently at DCU, you´ve got arenas and stuff, but nothing that had the word Epic on it, nothing that would make you feel that the effort for getting the 80 skill points or T2 gear was worth it. I just can´t stand at the idea of going to the effort of building a good character for the sake of just accomplishing that, i personally need to have a reason as to why i put the effort on building it up, a meaning to it, i would like to think there´s a goal beyond it.

This lines might seem like a rant to some or just some empty words to other, that´s not my goal, i just stated the above so as to explain myself and so as to maybe make the asnwering to my question a bit easier.

Now, the question been, is there any mmo that sucessfully meets the previous requirements? The goal not just building the character but something beyond?

Thanks for the ones that took the time to read my post and helped on my request!!

PD: If it helps, i´ve ´played: Mu Online, Knight Online, Lineage 2, Warhammer Online, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons Online, EvE, CoX, Guild Wars, RYL, WoW, Last Chaos, Silkroad and now DCU.

Maybe Aion? I felt that the leveling process and gearing really pays off endgame when you start doing Fort's and various raids.

I'm currently enjoying my free 14 day trial of Darkfall.

Sandbox, pvp, has a uo meets 3d feel.
