I would like to know as well, except you're not going to get an honest answer on this website.

    1. Fanboys

    2. The haters with 10 yr old computers on dial-up.

I'm planning on looking into it after the new PvP server launches.

Funny you should ask right now. They just literally patched in major technology changes 5 days ago. It's not the full re-work of the engine to Dreamworld 2.0 (which will feature in TSW) but the focus is on stability and back end changes for developers to provide different and more dynamic content updates.

I took the trail to check out the new engine update, and boy, resubbed today :)

I'm an old vet and quit shortly after x-pack release, mostly because I simply did not have the time. And then there were the issues. I had ALOT of shadow flickering with my AMD card and other bugs. Now everything looks just great, play at max dx10 with about 50-70 fps and so far I have not come across any gamebreaking bugs at all. About the population I  don't quite know yet. I guess i have to play some more and I'll keep you updated. But if you're on the fence and just want to check out the features that the engine update brought, i suggest you check out the trial.

    Playing: ARMA 2
    Waiting for: Darkfall: UW
Played: Ultima Online, Age of Conan, Anarchy Online, Planetside, Dark age of Camelot, EQII, WoW, SWG, FFXI and a lot more

All the major (including the non affecting gameplay but still annoying) bugs have been addressed long time ago, including recently those of the expansion..mentioning it as it has a reward system that will affect you after your 20s. Levelling is much, much faster than it used to be, and includes a form of offline XP gain,in the terms of assuming you are subscribed and not inactive account-wise, you will be receiving a small portion of XP -according to your level- while you are logged out. Aforesaid amount can be given to any of your chars, you get to choose both which and when. As i am not sure how long it was till you last logged in,the game client now correctly functions/uses DX 11, assuming you run Win7. So mechanics-gameplay wise, all good. Bad news is the very, very low population on the servers, with all this entails for your grouping and/or pugging it later on. There had been another merge some months back,i am no longer subscribed so cannot be precise, but it hasn't helped much either. If you wish to quest/RP/craft-solo your way to top level and then worry about what's what,go for it,it's smoother and as polished as never before. If you want more,be advised, you have been warned. There are rumours upon rumours for it going f2p, but funcom has bigger fish to fry,so don't take this for granted. As i said,if solo is your thing,go for it. Hope it helps :)

I am enjoying the improvements that the latest patch has brought, especially in regards to the graphical changes.  The population levels are low, but new people are still starting up and the game hasn't stagnated to a empty (at least on the Set server which I play on, and Wiccana is supposed to be active as well) The community is good, with most guilds eager to help new players along the way, and end game raiding is still quite active.

What it boils down to is that Funcom is still investing time and money into improving the game, so at the very least it's worth spending some time with the trial to see if you like what they've done.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

Hmmm, interesting. I was under the impression they had stalled AoC and were focused on TSW; I guess I was wrong.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

Insight of Conan as of now?

    1. recent installation of the Dream World engine has up performance significantly for many computers (many, not all, all machines work differently)

    2. expansion has introduced large playing fields, but with the trade off of  korean style grinding, the repetitive kind just to get some of the khitai gear loot.

    3. if new to conan, youll either love or hate the combat system, to this day it is still one of the most engaging systems in the industry, however if a veteran in conan, their be a chance youll despise how much they dumbed the game down as far as combat goes.

    4. Conan now is a PVE game, you will be wasting your time if you wish to try it for pvp.

    5. do NOT get conan if your a crafter

    6. do NOT get conan if your looking for any social incentive attached to the game (housing, open bars to chill with people), guild cities do not count then 90 percent of guilds are out doing raid rotations and further grinding to get their shiny loot. rp groups in the game have packed up and left barring a handfull of groups and 2 notable guilds.

    7. if you hate frequent instances and long loading screens, look else where.

    8. game is pretty in DX 10 still,

Though that could change a bit once they implement that new "player looting" server.
