Summer Gaming

mmogawdmmogawd Member Posts: 732

I work full time and go to school full time, so I'm not currently subscribed to any MMO.  I just don't have the time to commit, or the self control to not commit the time that I don't have! :)

I'm taking the summer off, so I'm looking for something that I can really get into.

I played WoW for a few years, completely burned out on it.  I hate end game, just seems like a weak excuse for continued progression.

I really ejoyed the Rift beta, and it's near the top of my list of possibilities.

I played Fallen Earth in beta... has it improved?

Xsyon SOUNDS like it could be a great game... but it's little more than a pile of shit.

If SWTOR comes out in time, it's a no brainer :)  But finals are in April, and I'm doubting it will be ready for May... however the recent release of the Guild tool does hint that it's getting closer...

Is there anything else out there that I'm missing?  Anything nearing release?  An older game that is finally polished enough to be worth committing a few months to?

Warhammer if you're not looking for a long term commitment. Bonus is that you can stick to the extended free trial. Mindless button mashing PVP fun if that's your thing.

Well, Guildwars 2 and TERA are also worth to keep your eyes on. I doubt GW2 will be released this summer but the beta might open up by then. TERA is on the other hand already released in Asia and might be released in english by then.

TSW might also be worth a look, not sure exactly when it releases, just this year.

It is somewhat worrying that you hated Wows endgame, I have not been to Rifts endgame myself but it seems like it is rather similar. You should at least check that up before choosing Rift (which is a good game of course, but I am not sure if it differs enough to keep a Wow burnout busy for a few months).

I'd sacrifice a girlscout if it would get TSW released in time!  Yah, it's Funcom, but if it lives up to half of what I think it can be, it will still be amazingly fun and innovative.

I end up being quite an Altoholic in games that are endgame heavy... so I imagine that with Rift it'd be the same way.  I really enjoyed it, but that's pretty much what keeps me from comitting to it right now.

If I could get into beta for TSW or GW2, or even SWTOR if it isn't released in time, I think that would be almost as good as finding a game to subscribe to.  Tera has some possibilities as well... I'm very interested to see how their political-sandbox system ends up working.

    I am a bit of a PvP wh0re :)

I've tried Warhammer, never been passed lvl 10.  Seemed too much like WoW, just not as polished.  Rift was like WoW, but at least it's polished and has a few unique features..
