Of course the Charr are furries, they have FUR, ffs.....BUT.....they are really really really BADASS furries. So don't worry about wanting to BE one. Trust me, it's fine.
Why I'm actually participating in this thread is beyond me, but the initial assumption of this question strikes me as ludicrous as the often decried claim that playing a female character when you are male (or vice versa) some how makes the player homosexual.
Life is far to short to even worry about these kinds of things.
So I like the Charr concept art, they look pretty bad ass. But I'm worried if I roll one I'll end up associating with the furry crowd. What do you think? Charr - furries or straight, honest to God monster race?
There are furries who like the Lion King, Sonic the Hedgehog, Bugs Bunny, Muppets, Mickey Mouse, Tauren, and Zerg.
... and who write porn for ALL of those.
Yes. I said Zerg.
SEXY Zerg.
It's better you don't take furries into account when picking your race, or you'll end up huddled in a crying little corner as a human, and trying to pretend that there aren't furries who think humans on Zerg is the sexiest thing ever.
Lol.... thats funny, sad, and creepy and in one statement.
Did you think of Charr as freaky when you fought them? The Charr hero you got in Eye of the North is still cools, but a furry playing one is going to be excessively creepy and a jerk. If you're not acting like a douche, no one is going to be calling you one. Furries don't get along with people, only animals and their own kind. I don't know if animals even really like their master's "Extra attention" if not for the food they're given.
The furry population in MMO's is rare, but you can always spot them bering a jerk on the forums and having a picture of a furry in their avatar and sig pic. Though I would like to see them in full bloom in Charr town during their mating season for laughs. It should bring big bucks for the Charr's economy.
For as long as it's been known that charr will be a playable character in GW2, I've been itching to drop a "Yiff in hell, furf**" in some form of PvP against charr players. But that's mostly due to history, as not only a longtime GW players, but a Proph player to boot.
As to whether the actual furry subculture will be drawn to them? The charr have lost alot of their monsterness, not so much in the male models, but the females, which have way more pronounced feline features and have lost alot of their 4 horned, fanged edge.
Whether the community at large will follow depends on whether the charr character builder is robust enough to make the males sufficiently attractive.
Of course the Norn can also be used for some on the spot bestial anthropomorphising.

If they're not, then you're safe. If they are, then pat Arenanet on the back for tapping an untapped market.
