I'm the guy actually playing the game instead of , you know, trolling forums for a game they don't like or play.
I'm curious, where exactly was i trolling?
Someone made a post about a recent return to Warhammer, I tried it a few weeks ago, so i offered my opinion as well. I thought i was pretty fair all things considered, and i didnt fabricate anything, nor did i trash the people who play it, or those considering.
It seems some folks definition of trolling is having a different opinion than their own..
By your own words you say that you probably didn't give the game a fair chance. You also say some things that are simply factually wrong unless you expected to log in at 5am and see the server busy. People who give opinions should be knowleable about what they opining on lest they look like they are trolling. You're certainly free to give your opinion but when you don't know what you are talking about then people should take your opinion with a grain of salt.
It's also curious how just now you say you tried it a few weeks ago and yet on the 24th you say you tried it "a few days ago". Funny that.
All right, call it a week ago, apologies there, been working nights and my times are a bit fuzzy, that i freely admit.
I didnt log in at 5am, bit closer to 5 pm (est), was it primetime, nope. But all i saw were a few folks in IC, a dozen? Maybe 2 dozen (and it wasnt that high)..? For a main faction town, thats pretty low. Though i suppose i didn't check every corner. I'm going to guess thats what you are saying was "factually wrong".
I'm fairly certain I said i liked the game back when, and in trying the new RvR, found it "boring". A game that has gone from almost 1 million copies sold, to two servers, in my opinion, really needs something that grabs you. This new fangled RvR doesn't, at least for me.Yes I admitted perhaps i could have given it more time, and if someone else is willing to do that, great, i left that door open in my opinion, thats why i said it.
I didnt log in, play for 10 min and say this suxxorz! you are all newbs for playin!!1
Everyone should take any opinion with a grain of salt. Not just mine. There are game reviews given by this very site that some would consider pretty high, and many gamers would consider the exact opposite of a game when playing , and vice versa. You want the most honest review of any game, play it.
I gave the game a fair enough chance, at least to warrent a sub from me. It didn't get it. There really isn't anything about this game that shows me a bright future. From the current implementation of RvR, to the development process, to a website thats worse than some guild web pages i have seen.
Thats why I wondered if it was enought to get a feel for teh game. In most mmos, lvl 10 gives u no feel for the game whatsoever.
Yeah it gives you plenty of chance to get a feel for the game, and its unlimited, so you can play as long as you want. In fact theres quite a few people who just stick to the trial accoutn for months to be able to login and have some fun PvPing in T1 when they feel like it.
The main things youll be missing out on by doing the trial instead of a subbed account is tactics (extra skills which are slotted into tactic slots and add passive bonuses & procs), keep sieges & siege weaponry, bunch of instances, etc. But th etrial gives you a chance to jump right into some PvP and se eif you enjoy it, and then base don that you can decide if you want to sub and continue on to the later tiers and larger scale combat & keep taking, etc.

Well, for 1 thing, judging anything base don ho wmany people ar ein IC is pretty fail. Why would anyone be hanging around in IC? Only reason to go there is to train skills and grab new gear. Everyone is out in the RvR zones fighting, not sitting around the capital city. Not sure what sever you tried, but Gorfang is the mos tpopulated right now an dthere is pretty much always a good fight to be found, even in the middl eof the night, thats my main time to play.
For example last night in T3 we had about 3 warbands on both destro and order sides fighting to flip the zones. We spent about 2 hours fighting eachothe rin Empire vs Chaos, both sides on the inner keep doors pushing eachother back and forth until Order finally won. This took place around 5 AM Eastern.
As far as the new RvR system, a lot of people have the same complaint as you, and as ive told them, if youre standing around doing nothing youre doing it wrong, dont blame the game. Ive been switching back and forth between various toons, healer, tank, melee dps, and ranged dps. If there are enemies in the area there is ALWAYS something to do and you should never be standing around. Yes only 4 people can be on a ram, thats the way it has always been. But how can those 4 people (typically tanks) keep the ram going if the healers arent keeping them up, ranged dps arent picking off people on the walls an dattacking siege weapons, and melee DPS arent sneaking in the back door taking out the enemy healers & getting people off the oil & weaponry? The only time you should be doing nothing is if ther eare no enemies. And THAT is a population / enemy in other zone issue, NOT something wrong with the RvR mechanics. If youre bored and want something to do, your elikely with a large group who has scared off the enemy and they went for an easier zone flip. Hunt them down in whatever zone they go to instead of willingly playing "waithammer" and then complaining you had nothing to do. Its very easy to track them down with the current system becaus ethey have to take & hold the BOs for a long time before attacking the keep. Just fly into a zone, if you see the enemy has any of the BOs you know theyre there, and the hunting can commence.

You didn't exactly specify what your complaint about the new RvR system was so I will assume you mean that at sieges you just stand around instead of being able to beat on the door like you used to. The thing is there ARE things to do, it's just most people are too lazy to do them.
4 tanks should be on te ram and more tanks should be protecting the ram from people going through the main gate.
RDPS should be clearing walls.
MDPS should be bypassing postern doors and harrassing people inside.
Healers obviously should heal. If you don't like those things you can also:
Get a manticore/griffin and bomb the enemy troops or use it to get on their walls if you don't have bypass postern.
Bring a siege weapon to help kill their siege weapons and people on the walls.
Get a skaven rat ogre and throw allies up on the walls or help beat the door down.
Get a gutter runner and harrass people inside or sabotage their siege engines.
Get a warplock engineer and use the placeables to help buff your troops and also help clear the walls.
Aside from all these you could also be helping in the rest of the zone making sure the enemy doesn't retake BOs.
The reason people complain is because a lot of that stuff requires you to go to your own keep and get something (Skaven, flying mount, siege engine) in order be able to contribute instead of just LOLdpsing the door down zerg style with the old system which was stupid.
You didn't exactly specify what your complaint about the new RvR system was
I just don't find it engaging enough. Dull, not from laziness, but from repetition. As i said. I was in closed beta for this game, I've been beating on these same keeps for over 2 years now?
Some folks say its pvp game and players make their own content, or how much more content can they add to a pvp game that doesn't split the playerbase, etc. My question then is, where is this $15 a month go? Other games cost the same with content upgrades. This game gets endless bug fixes, yet has some classes that have been underpowered and underplayed for as long as i can remember.
Tell you what, if you aren't going to add content to the game, don't charge me the same amount of ones that do.
We were told there was going to be a new RvR system, skaven, etc, and personally i found it underwhelming, it seems "a lot" of people did.
But we can buy new pets!
This game just not pump out enough new for me to stay interested for very long, I've done it all for too long. The last new thing was what? LoTD? The next evolution of Darkness Falls... : /
In general, I have to say I resent having spent the money on the RvR progression pack and the one month sub. I was a returning player and in part, the original post is what made me go 'hmm'...hence why I'm replying. I won't assume I speak for everyone, but in a nutshell, Mythic should hang their heads in humiliation at what the game is. The entire design of the lakes is simply horrible, the reason why DAOC had the success it did was not just the 3 faction system, it was also a shared frontier. Now I know why they did the lake, so that everyone could start pvping right away, but they had that already in place but missed the obvious.
Let the SC's be the leveling man's pvp, let the end game be the ORVR with of course, the purpose being to conquer the opposing faction's city. If they wanted to include the lakes still, you place all of them on a shared frontier once more, not the way they have it set up which just scatters people far and wide and the only thing that goes on right now is running circles as a WB to flip zones. People actively avoid pvp just so they can flip objectives. Utterly failed design. And even worse, the grind to acquire levels, ranks, and gear is near that of a Korean MMO. Not because you don't get enough points from completing something, but because the lion's share of points comes from engaging the enemy...but they've done everything they can to dissuade that from happening.
Once you leave T1 which admittedly has constant action in Nordland more or less, it drops off in a hurry and all you wind up doing is running zone flips with next to no opposition, and that's during primet time hours. Failed zone design, grind, and low population all contribute to make this game a waste of time. As I told a friend of mine who asked me what I thought of it, I said it was like watching a cancer patient on chemo who has no hope of surviving, only prolonging the agony. Masturbating with your feet is more entertaining than WAR.
Even peace may be purchased at too high a price, and the only time you are completely safe is when you lie in the grave.

Cool. Ill give it a try, but isnt the free trial an endless trial but the lvl cap is 10? not 14 days?
