Mount & Blade isn't an MMORPG, so I'm going to feel free to list two non-MMORPGs.
Shenmue + River City Ransom.
That's right, I want an MMO that's all about walking around Honk Kong/Japan/China in the 80s, as martial artist/gang member, beating people up until they vomit money that I can use to buy better weapons/learn new martial arts techniques.
I'd love to see an MMO where every building has the amount of detail put into Ryo's house. I want to be able to play arcade games at the arcade, buy useless toys, and work mini-game jobs and gamble.
... and have revenge. Lots and lots of revenge. Using my fists.
FFXI + Rift - Take the fluid feel of combat, movement, polish, soul trees, dynamic content such as rifts and invasions and add them to the extremely immersive world of FFXI and storyline and crafting and depth, plus now with public grouping no more waiting in Jueno for a pt, just go find one click and you are in, adding to the already brimming soul system other "jobs" to make it beefier like samurai, ninja, black mage, red mage, etc. holy cow!!!!!
I love the open world pvp in Darkfall and the way way you can do waht you want in game.
AOC -
Graphics and lore, AOC is one of the best looking MMOs out there and also has great background lore and can pull even mroe from the countless conan books and stuff.
Sandbox MMORPGs that are not very well-known but definitely worth a look:
Ryzom, Haven and Hearth, Xsyon, The Repopulation, UO private shards, Mortal Online, Darkfall 1 remakes (New Dawn or Rise of Agon), RPG MO, Project Gorgon, EQ: Sanctuary (custom server)
Thinking a little outside of the box, I am going to say Ultima Online + Heroes of Newerth. HoN isn't an MMO but I love the graphics from that game. I think if they could make UO with those quality graphics, it would be my favorite game. I like the 2.5D perspective UO had, so I dont want to change that. They just need a quality graphics upgrade, and the HoN graphics are great. Also when I picture this.. im referring to the pre UO:R patch era.
I'm gonna cheat but I would use GW2 combat and skills system but FFXI classes (love those classes) and keep out the holy trinity still plus eve's huge world and player controlable zones but still in a medival setting and TOR quest choices
Guess RIFT has done it already...combine everything good you have in other known MMOs and put it into one pack...hell, throw in a Maelstrom and you get to fly a spaceship also...
...guess the ultimate copy-paste-throw-in-a-little-fairy-powder project already been made...
Vindictus and Everquest. Vindictus combat, gearing, leveling, graphis. Everquest's world, races, exploration, obscure quests, and lore. Throw in player housing and I think It'd play it for years. Screw the Exclaimation bubbles!
Comments
Imo, the genres need to be sililar. Linking wow to eve doesn't work.
How about eve + swtor? vastness of space and things to do combined with a much much stronger Player focus.
1) Rift
2) DAoC
The following statement is false
The previous statement is true
Ryzom and WoW(Before end game). Real crafting/gathering, with the ability to drop out of sandbox content and into some direction. Along with polish.
TCoS and darkfall. A reasonable FPS action system with a lot more depth(TCoS), and player directed RvR.
Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.
"At one point technology meant making tech that could get to the moon, now it means making tech that could get you a taxi."
Black Prophecy + EVE = Black proEVE

SWG + WoW............Oh wait nwm
SWG Pre-NGE + Vanguard SoH
LoTRO 1st year (no map pointers, real exploration, late mounts, challenging quests) + Darkfall or Vanguard.
OMGBESTMMOEVER.
GW2 + Tera !!!
I wish they could do that^^
FFXI + Rift - Take the fluid feel of combat, movement, polish, soul trees, dynamic content such as rifts and invasions and add them to the extremely immersive world of FFXI and storyline and crafting and depth, plus now with public grouping no more waiting in Jueno for a pt, just go find one click and you are in, adding to the already brimming soul system other "jobs" to make it beefier like samurai, ninja, black mage, red mage, etc. holy cow!!!!!
CoH game with the graphics of any next gen MMO.
Sinc Guild Wars 2 is being made, GW1 can stay the same
Darkfall + AOC

Plus a AAA sandbox MMO would be awesome
Hmmm... Ultima Online + Darkfall !
Ryzom, Haven and Hearth, Xsyon, The Repopulation, UO private shards, Mortal Online, Darkfall 1 remakes (New Dawn or Rise of Agon), RPG MO, Project Gorgon, EQ: Sanctuary (custom server)

Asheron's Call + Shadowbane
1. World/Lore of Shadowbane
2. World Events and Lore actually mattering of Asheron's Call
3. Skill and combat system of Asheron's call
4. City building/territory control of Shadowbane
5. Sandboxy open world, no "!" quests of Asheron's Call and Shadowbane
Top MMOs: Asheron's Call, Shadowbane, EVE Online, Planetside
Played: Pretty much everything at one point or another
Dark age of camelot + WoW -
Keep DAoC the way it is, upgrade the graphics slightly, fix a few things -
- Alls I want from WoW is the population.
Now if population wasn't an issue at all -
DAoC + DAoC. Because DAoC (was) just that awesome

Everquest+ Asheron's Call 2.
GW & GW2
or
AoC & TERA
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
Darkfall and anything with more shiny graphics.
