I haven't tried Fedora, but all the 47 other distros I've used had no real problems using Wine to run Windows games. Just be careful about automatically updating Wine in your package manager, because sometimes the newer releases suffer regressions.
Debian is much harder to configure initially. I just switched back to Ubuntu from Debian because their last update/upgrade broke my system with memory leaks. Prior to that I was very happy with it.
I too would like to just have Ubuntu in my computer, however I'm afraid that sooner or later I will find that a game I want to play is unplayable on it (Wine doesn't work with everything).

Okay.. But should i just install Ubuntu then?
Ubuntu is just about the easiest to install. You might want to use the long-term 10-4 for stability.

What about debian?
Did you thought on having Win 7 for games and Linux for the rest? Ubuntu install nicely as a dual boot system.

i once jumped from Win7 to uBuntu, i loved it actually, uBuntu + Wine, you can play amost everything ( but not smooth )
but too bad, limited driver forced me to switch back to Win
So What Now?
