Best Low Spec MMOs?

nzrocketnzrocket Member Posts: 5

Hi All,

Pretty much my first over posting here, so I hope you can all help me out?

I have a pretty crappy PC, and I am not fully sure of the Specs on it. It is a HP Touchsmart (one of the older ones, with intergrated graphics). I wish I had never got the thing!

However - I cannot afford an upgrade right now so I am forced to stick with the thing.

Currently it manages to run WoW just (on all minimum settings I might add), Everquest one (again minimum settings). Most of the other more recent games I try it just can't handle. Age of Conan, nope, EQ2 scrapes in, Warhammer Online freezes up and Pirates of the Burning seas is a lag fest...........

What I want to know is - a few other decent MMOs (hopefully free to play) that are good games, and hopefully won't tax my poor PC too badly. Any help and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers for listening!

Well since you said you refer Free to play I am guessing you do not want to pay a subscription. I would recommend Guild Wars, it is buy to play. The game has a really active population, I have been playing on and off for almost 4 years now and every time I log in I find things to do and people to adventure with. Depending on what you are into, if you like running dungeons and doing PVP you can spend a lot of time playing the game. I am at over 1000 hours of play time with my 8 characters and I still only have 30 out of 50 points in the HOM.  Plus depending on your tastes, the game is not gear based do you will not be sucked into the endless gear treadmill. At least to me this is a plus, if you like the gear treadmill then you might not like some parts of this game.

    FF11.

Has basic graphics and while it has a large world, it has zoning so, to your advantage in this case, not a whole lot is loaded. Most zones aren't terribly large and the view distance isn't huge. The UI isn't cluttered so is comfortable on any resolution and the game, unlike some, is playable very well with 0 addons.

It's not free to play but it meets all your graphic desires.

(Do not confuse it with FF14).

Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.

Guildwars is perfect. You can run it on a P3 processor and it still looks pretty good.

Guild wars costs some upfront money but i agree, it runs on anything and it runs well.

I know Mu is very old and a f2p game that will run on older machines.

Rose , ragnarok, priston tale alot of pre 2007 games run on older machines. you can give them a try.

unfortunately with an integrated card even older games will still run rough. You will probably have to change some setting to try to get the most out of your system to enjoy pretty much anything.
