How does economy work?

Am trying out the game with the free trial.  So far I like some things, and hate others.  What I can't figure out is the economy.

I was asking in-game about stores.  My little dude earned a few hundred gold from defeating all sorts of baddies and was looking for a store.  I was told there were no stores, it was a player run economy.  So how do I buy things?  I looked at the Trade chat channel and everything offered was going for big $$.  I asked a few people where I could spend my gold and was told I did not have near enough gold to bother shopping yet.  This bugged me.  If the player run economy is being run by the high-level guys only, then there is NO economy for me to take part in until I have my guy at a high level.

When I kill monsters I sometimes I get items I can't use.  Sometimes they are pretty cool, but not for my class or race.  I could turn them into gold but would not a character that could use it pay even more?  Am I missing something?  Is there a location I can get to where people of all levels are buying and selling?  Is there a window I can bring up to see items players from all over have for sale?

I hope one of you wise AC2 vets can tell me I am missing something, if not I think they left something vital out of the game.

I don't care for how it runs either but if you mine you should be able to take part in the economy.

Economy is currently based on 2 things.. lvl 50+ equipement and rarities and crafting (resource gathering).

I highly doubt any1 will want to buy any stuff from u at lvls below 30 cause leveling is so fast u overgrow it
in a day or 2. If u need better equipment try to join an allegiance for support, or try to contact lower lvl crafters on ur server, in my experience crafters are usually halpful bunch of ppl (especially if u have some crafting mats on u ::::39:: )..

If u lack gold then u should try gathering resources, mining and butcheinrg is very profitable lately.

I dont know on which server u play, but i think on all servers at least one vendor was build, for now u can only sell/buy crafting material and trophies at vendors, but they will be enhanced in next patch.

Also at lower levels crafting of armor and weapons is far more cheaply done then those who require lvl 50+ gear. I know alot of my /a gives the young ones in the group free crafted gear since its not alot out of the pocket an they can replace the funds easily with less then an hour mining.

The big buck things are simply highly wanted items. Mirras, PT weapons, etc. All those will go for far more you would expect. Right now those are pretty much set in stone on costs. They have stabilized alot.

As for the other items(mined, crafted weapons, whatnot) they are still fairly new with the vendors so people are still trying to undercut the market as muchg as possible with still being able to make a profit they are happy with. Everyday I check Cavendo's vendor and the prices seem to either get lower or more and more people stack ontop of the lowest prices already there.

Time will have thing settle out, but below lvl 30(when you start getting into serious hunting group and solo on linvak) will you have to really worry about the costs. By then if you mine even 2 hours a week you should have more then enough gold to buy what you need to.

I am new too but at least I found a way to spend money - to untrain skills need 15000 gold:)

Option to untrain skills was added for high lvl chars mainly. There is no need to untrain them with gold unless u are lvl 50+ (with some exceptions). U can untrain them 'manually' fast enough, just join hunt fellow and do a couple of quests...
Untraining chars is a nice option, but u have to be careful with it, if u untrain to fast, or to the class that playstyle is much different then ur old class then u can gimp urself a lot ::::01::.. gl
