Funny how everyone decries auto-attack systems as something for the lazy without fully grasping why they are so common.  First off, systems without auto-attack tend to be click fests.  During pvp good connections will dominate those without them so skill is on the outside looking in.   So really hard to say which is better, but calling others lazy because they like auto-attack is ridiculous.

Hard to comment on other people's perceptions of a game.  We will just have to wait and see what the normalized version of TERA is about when we can test it ourselves.

Umm, a fully translated Asian game is EXACTLY THE SAME as a badly dubbed Bruce Lee movie. You'd have all the visuals that were originally there..but the core (the words) of the product would be (usually poorly) translated. Because let's face it...translating whether it's dubbed or subbed..is usually going to be subpar. There are just too many differences in the nuances of the languages.

So, to "appreciate these Asian products in their original form", you would need to learn that language and play the original. I'd say it's fairly obvious why we haven't "evolved past [sic]" the days. Yes, the games have cultural differences and yes those differences are going to be good or bad for some people. It doesn't make the game good or bad for everyone. But, generally, people stick to what they know and are more likely to enjoy something that fits with their culture. It doesn't make them anti-eastern/western. It makes them human.

I don't see how the complaint about repetitive combat can hold water.  All MMOs tend to have highly repetitive combat.  Its not like it's any more compelling in a game like WOW for instance, that you can employ a variety of strategies to defeat different foes without respeccing.  Most of those varying gameplay elements are build oriented and not a flaw within the game's battle system itself.
