SV bringing out a program to lower peoples sub price for advertising for them:
1) Didnt even take effect yet. They just announced it.
2) New subscribers will be realized during the quarter that new income/sales happen.
3) The end of the quarter results are announced and then stock prices will react to the financials SV puts out.
So... SV has a long time before you can attribute any movement, if any at all, in the stock price to the above facebook campaign.
Hipster, allow me to help you out...
People purchase stocks on news. For instance, when Apple announces they are producing an iPhone the stock moved based on the news. The stock doesn't wait until 6 months pass and they get the sales numbers. It might also move at that time if the sales are higher or lower than expected, but stocks will normally move on news that affects the company.
Here is the Apple stock chart so you can see:
Here is the SV Chart for the last week:
Note that for the last week there was only one day that any stock was even traded....
I don't think the Facebook campaign would cause more than a blip on the overall stock performance. I think making the game available on D2D could and should have a greater impact but the stock hasn't budged. It might move later based on Q2 results... but no bump at all from the announcement is somewhat surprising.

Great, now SV is compared with a big company with like million+ share holders .
Ofc there is more action when you have at thousands of people trading daily!
Fo the players, I still see it as great news. And if you do not want the discount, do not use it. How hard can it be!
Funny is, even though MO was going to go F2P, and no micro transactions and what ever (totally free for all), some people here would find something to complain about anyway. {mod edit}
I still love the inovative thinking done by Star Vault!
Newsflash: this "innovative" thinking is used by every single facebook game with different varriations, and is the reason many hates them (the spam). Not to mention many others games "like us on FB and unlock stuff".
Yes, every Facebook game obviously!
Please privide me proof that any other developer did it before Star Vault (non Facebook game)!?

I think you missed the point. It's not the volume (which was just an interesting side note).. it's the fact that stocks in general MOVE on news. The Apple stock was simply presented as a demonstration to explain to Hipster how things work. Yes, actual financial performance will also move the stock, but the anticipation of financial performance is driven off of news (positive and negative) or rumors about news. Investors do not wait for results to be reported before trading..
As far as I can tell, this was timed to occur after the close of the 1st quarter so that Henrick would have something "positive" to write about when he has to explain his financials in a few weeks (along with the D2D stuff). My guess is that he reports another losing quarter but points to actions like these as signs they are turing the corner. It will just be a month or so till we see!

Re-read my message, I did tell you that the concept of "Do something with our facebook and get rewards" been floating around in MMORPG industry for a while now. Not to mention that it is irrelevant if a game Facebook based or not, it's same concept.
Yes, but I still say they are inovative in their account/facebook thing. Since I still do not know anyone done it before, and there has been no proof presented that there is one that has done it. So, YOU need to re-read my message. And feel free to present any proof that has done the same as Star Vault, and I will take it back!

You need to learn to see a bit deeper, not just the surface. What you gain from the facebook PR of a game is irrelevant, whether it is subscription discount, fanart reveal, or anything else, the concept stays the same- promote the game on FB, get something in return. Only because I take a car and repaint it into a new color, I can't claim I invented a new vehicle.
As I said, give me one game that has done the same thing, and I will withdraw my statement that I am right. If you cannot do this, the statement stands!

Yes, Mortal Onlines piddly viral marketing campaigne is a sad copy of something pmG (The makers of Messiah Studios) did. The software originally was $499 (standard edition) and $1195 (Pro edition). They ran a Dare to Share viral marketing campaign. Basically if so many people visted, followed and purchased either edition they would drop the price to $10 (Standard edition) and $40 ( Pro Edition). Thats a savings of $489 to $1155 depending on the edition. We reached the number of followers/sales because we all went out telling any and every 3D modeler we knew.
I believe the price has now gone back up and settled on some new prices that are gradually rising back to what they were. Right now it's $149 for standard and $199 for pro. It's gradually going back up. Now this isn't some shoddy software either lol. It's been used to make effects for .....
850 Meters
Plankton Invasion
Iron Maiden
Syriana
Ghost Rider
Into The Deep
Harry Potter
Hell Boy
Xmen
Zambizia
Jimmy Neutron
The Tripletes of Belleville
Tremors 3
The Reeker
JSF
Mechwarrior
Now this isn't the first company nor the last that has or will use this kind of viral marketing campaign. Many companies are using facebook following marketing campaigns, recruit a friend campaings, etc. It's nothing new or innovative by SV and honestly they are doing a piss poor job of utilizing this common strategy. The number required per individual user is way to high and the reward doesn't match at all.
If they say set a 10k facebook friend goal and said if the player base can make it happen then they would reduce the subscription fee for all members that were a part of MO when it happened (Thos that join after would pay the normal sub fee) then they may have been on to something (As in utilizing this common marketing strategy better). But they copied an idea that companies have been using on and off facebook for a long time and still managed to mess it up.
So no, your point doesn't still stand because it never did. This is far from innovation since it's becaome a standard viral marketing ploy used by many companies both in and outside the gaming industry.
One interesting thing of note is that the app has 560 users... If we assume that at least half of the subscribers for MO are doing this promotion (probably reasonable, if not a low estimate--fans of the game tend to want to promote the game, most people have facebook nowadays, and they get money for it), then they have maybe 1000, up to perhaps 1500 subscribers (an extremely optimistic estimate).
And then keep in mind that they needed 1500 more subscribers just to break even, even after cost cutting... and that suddenly seems like a really unrealistic expectation.
That is true. But I imagine the younger audience (gaming audience) is the ones with more friends on FB. There are probabely plenty of "grannys" that have Facebook just to have their grand children etc as friends!
Even though many do not have 750 friends, I guess there are plenty of MO (any game) gamers that has at least 350-500 friends which give them some discount which can be worth clicking a button to recieve!

Nope you cannot. But I am still right in my statement. Thank you for that!
Nope. See, I too can be stubborn and ignore others arguments, so I this argument is over with me being right. Thanks!
