Mostly because of poor management lacking leadership skills and inefficient human resources management.

Because People want a Time-filler. People don't want to think about things. People want to be distracted from their pity lifes. That's why one plays Computer Games.

Most people I know go on that disease called 'Facebook' while they are supposed to be working lol, and play a game against family members (by posting daily highscores) if there's nothing new, atleast that's what got them started anyways.

But then there is people like my Mother.. who play the same damn thing all day (bejewled or something I think), I don't how something like that can be fun for hours at a time and day after day.

It's not like Facebook was the first to offer flash games though, so why is this coming up now and in this context?

There have been sites dedicated to that for atleast a decade, and people have been playing those too, myself included. It was more of a 'nothing better to do' time filler thing than anything, much like Facebook as a whole is..

I would have to say because they enjoy them.  I have never played any since I don't have a Facebook account nor will I ever.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I play games because I enjoy them...  Using any form of media to escape from their "pity lifes" as you say shows a pretty disturbing problem.

    It's a Jeep thing. . .

Because not everyone want to run around with a rifle/sword and KILL things 24/7?

Because sometimes the simple tasks are relaxing and soothing?

People don't ask questions to get answers - they ask questions to show how smart they are. - Dogbert

I agree. Simple tasks are relaxing and soothing and hey, no one likes to get caught with zombies and monsters and all kinds of flying creatures all the time. Sometimes, watching your farm grow veggies and watering your flowers or feeding hungry customers are better. Lol. I used to play Farmville, Cafe world and mostly all the facebook applications that gets my attention. Unfortunately, they get boring very easy so I guess that's it. People play those games just for past time and when they get bored they go looking for another one. Same thing for most mmo games although i think mmo gamers are more commited to their games.

Possible Answer = Because they enjoy them?

I´m not into them but why care why some other person might enjoy something I or OP or anyone else might not enjoy?

I'm the OP. The reason why I care is because I am a game developer and I am starting work on a facebook game that would not be as easy as so many of the others. I realize this will not appeal to the true "casual gamer" who doesn't have the time for a more involved game. I'm hoping there are enough people out there who will be interested to make it worthwhile.

I was not just expressing discontent with competing games. I was trying to understand the market better. Thanks for the input, everyone. It has helped, though it was mostly what I expected. Still, it's one thing for me to guess the reason. It's a whole lot better to confirm it by getting comments from a lot of facebook game players. Thanks everyone.

Fair enough, but you could have asked the question: Would people be intrested in a more challenging facebook game? image

Well, my answer to this is the same reason people hang out on Facebook at all, or watch retarded, meaningless TV shows all evening until they go to bed.  They are bored with their jobs and their lives. Here in the Western world at least, we have been busy trying to fill a void with the very thing that created the void in the first place. That thing is the pursuit of happiness through material things. We increasingly deny seeking out meaningful fulfilling jobs in trade for the fleeting hope of more money from a job we hate.  Fewer and fewer people express themselves through all the various kinds of hobbies and arts. We don't seek novelty or experiences, or to increase our general knowledge. Few people read or write anymore.  We devalue real human contact and ALL that comes with it and choose empty Facebook 'friendships' instead. (this is not to take away from the amazingly positive potential of the internet to connect the world together)

We can talk for months about things that are much more fulfilling, and have a lasting positive affect in this area, but the main point is that most people are still chasing "stuff" and once they get whatever it was they were chasing, it quickly loses its shine and novelty, and then they go on chasing the next new bauble. Happiness is always just around the corner if only they can get that new car, or that bigger house, or whatever.

How this relates to stupid TV shows and ludicrously mindless games on Facebook is that people are just generally bored and unhappy, and these things are simple distractions that help them get through the day until they can go shopping again.

    Sad, isn't it?

I have grown up a lot in recent years, and my view of what is important (TO ME) has drastically changed.  I now favor experiences, art, researching the mysteries of the world (from my perspective), and just generally grooving with life in various ways.  Yes, I am still stuck in this rat race like everyone else, but I am doing my best to live outside of it whenever possible.

(Before anyone makes the inevitable wise crack, I'm a casual gamer with many other more important hobbies. I would list them here, but you don't care.)

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
