A few years ago I spent about two years using the computer/playing mmo's for hours each day. Somewhat recently my eyesight's taken a turn for the worse... it went from not being able to read what's written on a chalk board to being unable to read anything two feet away from me. Anyone else in the same boat?

It depends on how old you are. There are 2 stages in it. Young - Teen and Early Middle Age - Old.
When I was in the 2nd grade, my eyesight was 20/20. In the 3rd grade, it was 20/30. By the time I was 15, it was somewhere around 20/150 and it's been the same since. I didn't really start using computers heavily until I was about 16.
So no, in the past 12yrs (11 that I've been on the computer heavily), my eyesight has not changed one bit. It's still 20/150 and still correctable to 20/10.
I expect them to get worse when I start hitting my mid to late 30s and on into however old I live to.
CRTs were MUCH worse on your eyes than LCDs. I don't think you've been able to buy a CRT for at least 4yrs. LCDs don't really put much more strain on your eyes, than does reading a piece of paper. I didn't get my first LCD until about 2006.

You need to see an eye doctor.
Now.
I agree with Grunty here.
Generally, attempting to see something your eyes are having difficulty with only accelerates the degeneration. I have nearsightedness personally. During high school I went from normal vision to 20/40 within two years. By the time I got over myself and got glasses, it had already slid to 20/51. Currently I wear contacts, and my unaided eyesight is staying at 20/52 with no sign of further issues. I get about 20/18 with the aid.
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Eat more carrots. I pour carrot juice in my eyes...really helps with my eye sight.

I first started wearing glasses when I was fourteen at 20/50, currently it's 20/150. Having regular check ups with the eye doctors help in preventing further damage with the eyes. For me it is at least once a year. When buying glasses, ask for multicoated lens.
When you start having migraine, it's time to stop playing. Rest is important too.
I have a different problem that I dunno what to do about as the opticians near me said they couldn't see it. I see this big floaty thing in the middle of my eye that looks like germs under a micro scope. I can only see it when I look at a white background or the sky or just something bright. However it's getting bigger and more annoying and I don't want it to get to the point that it becomes hard to live with like my tinnitus.
Sad thing is they said you cannot do anything about it... like my tinnitus lol.
So all I do now is listen to the radio and try to stay indoors and I'm all good.
