Anyone remember Dawn?

Does anyone remember Dawn? =P

It was being made by a company called glitchless. The website can still be found at glitchless.com with random updates with a non-sensical quote hinting that they're working on something in the background.

When I first found Dawn, it was 6 or 7 years ago. It was everything I ever wanted at the time. It was going to be a spherical planet, modifyable terrain, permadeath, aging, build your own stuff, cool PvP system, no spawning (things breed with each other, including playable races so if one was killed out, couldn't be that one anymore), etc.

Obviously, all my hoping disappeared the day they said that they were no longer working on the game.

When I look back on it now, I can see very clearly that the technology at the time definitely would not have been able to support the kind of game they pictured. Even now, it might not be possible.

I had plans for all the kinds of things I was going to build. I was going to roleplay the evil little outcast goblin race and just wander doing random acts of evil just to survive since we were hated by the entire world and would be slaughtered at first sight.

Edit: I also realize that the project they are supposedly working on is called "Project X," the same name that is being used by mmorpg.com for their mystery project ::::01::

There was never true company, there was never true game...This all was just one big scam made by few kids with 3d modeling skills.

You must be the former game DEV for the greatest poster child for vaporware. image

The technology did exist back then for everything DAWN wanted to have. Ever hear of Ultima Online? Change a few math variables and UO would have character aging, permadeath, etc....

There was 1 game DEV for Dawn. Some know-itl-all named Jeff -----. His bio used to be up at his site. He graduated top of his class at Princeton University, USA. Books smarts are nice, but one needs more than that to make it in the buisness world. He was never able to secure the 5-10 million needed to complete his game. He had a working "alpha" called Racewars. It basically was a test of the algorithams/math forumulas for Dawn. (The same way Infantry at station.com was a test for the math equations in Planetside.)

He's still around, still alive, scamming money from players who like to be scammed. He used whatever money he had to re-vamp Racewars, no called "Racewar Kingdoms". It's barely the definition of a MMORPG. It's a wimpy, browser based, "mmorpg". There are I admit some intresting features. Like how you can grow a kingdom, your castle and/or castles. Heck, I even gave him some ideas that he used LOL! (Like origianlly letting the volcano be the entrance to the undreground levels.)

The main problem with his current "game" is players can use real life money to get in game items. Thus the richest players in real life 100% rule the game. Not a problem for Jeff of course = more money in his pocket. LOL! And there is the tiny fact that there are infinite LEVELS. (OK, almost infinate. I think now the level cap is 150,000! Yes you start out at level ONE then level up, level up, until you reach One-Hundred-Fifty-thousand LOLOL!). His old Racewar game got 100% hacked inside out, which drove away any remaining fans of his he had. His current incarnation of "Racewar Kingdoms" still has problems with players hacking it, using bots, scripts, cracks, etc.... It's even funnier because the victims use real life money to get ahead in the game Heh.

He's a wash-out, a never-been, a could-have-been. I personally do not dislike him. I just feel he's wasted talent. If he were more of a people person, knew how to make contacts, he could've raised the millions he needed. His time has long passed. And will never come again. He's now just eeking out a living. Ah well. image

Nope, no one remembers Dawn, nor cares about it. It will never get made. The fact that he called his company "Glitchless" says it all LOL!  It is forever RIP. imageimage
